Less than Perfect

Claude Casey, a temp who has worked at the GBN Television Network for two years before she unexpectedly lands a job on the coveted desk of handsome news anchor Will Butler. After Will hires her full-time, Claude quickly realizes she may be in over her head in this new world of assistants fighting to get ahead. Her co-workers on the 22nd floor seem less interested in her brownies and cheery attitude than they do in getting rid of her. Kipp and Lydia are certain that Claude is a minor inconvenience who will easily fold, but while she may look like a pushover, they'll learn not to push her. With the help of her old friends from the fourth floor, Ramona and Owen, Claude is determined to prove that she may not be perfect, but she's also not going down without a fight. We'll follow Claude on her journey as she battles her own insecurities in a size-2 world, while refusing to compromise her values. Claude's dream comes true when she moves up from temp to a permanent position as the assistant to news anchor, Will Butler. Claude is showered with gifts as Will's new assistant, leaving Kipp and Lydia filled with envy. Kipp deceives Claude by telling her that Will is not fond of her lowly 4th floor buddies, Owen and Ramona, and then Claude inadvertently offends them by saying they cannot visit her on the 22nd floor anymore. 2002 Touchstone Television

Ramona tries to set Claude up on a blind date with Raphael. Claude declines because she still has a crush on Will. Claude gets a shock when Will asks her to dinner. Kipp and Lydia are stunned as well when they hear the news. So is Ramona, who is also angry because Claude has to cancel their double date. The dinner turns out to be a huge disappointment for Claude. Will only wanted her, to keep him company. Claude's embarrassment increases when Will realizes that she thought that dinner was a "date" dinner. The next day, Lydia and Claude end up commiserating over a pint of ice cream. After recounting their experiences, it's revealed that Lydia slept with Will but Claude did not. Meanwhile, Owen happens to notice that Kipp is in possession of a very exclusive writing pen. Kipp was previously oblivious to the uniqueness of the pen, but as soon as Owen made his comments, Kipp started coveting the pen. Claude discovers that lying is part of her job description, and gets unsolicited training from Kipp. Meanwhile, at a company-wide meeting, Lydia & Owen and Kipp & Ramona are paired up as 'floor buddies,' a program designed to help employees bond with one another -- but can these incompatible groups ever really connect? 2002 Touchstone Television

Claude is unable to compete with Lydia for Will's attention, so Ramona drags her to a Strippercize class to help her gain confidence. Meanwhile, Kipp is unhappy with his I.D. photo and convinces Owen to return to his former job as an I.D. photographer. 2002 Touchstone Television

Claude loves her job so much she doesn't want to use her vacation days. After reluctantly agreeing to take a vacation, she feels threatened by Luke, the popular temp who fills in for her. 2002 Touchstone Television

Claude helps Kipp realize his dream of becoming a news anchor by producing a demo tape for him. Meanwhile, Lydia tries to jog Wills memory of their one-night-stand, but maybe shes the one with the bad memory. 2002 Touchstone Television

Will asks Claude to call the office of Allan Turnbach, the network president, to get him Knicks tickets. She calls but they won't give her the tickets. She tells Will, so he calls up and gets the tickets himself. Sara meets Roz, who is also the woman that she kept from getting into the elevator that morning. Roz immediately doesn't like Claude and tells her that she does not want to have any interaction with her. Lydia tells Claude about Roz and how she is mean because she has been stuck in the same job for thirty years and that is all she does in her life. Kipp is short of money and Owen offers him some, but only on his terms. Claude visits Roz to make a truce and they become friends. The next day in the cafeteria, Lydia sees Owen in Kipps' suit. Kipp gave it to him to hold for collateral for the $100 that Owen lent him. Owen believes that he sold it to him. Claude talks to Will about her fears of working for him forever. He tells her that she will be good at anything she decides to do. 2002 Touchstone Television

Claude discovers that the office holiday party is not the best place to give her boss relationship advice. But the night is not a total bust, as Claude, Lydia and Owen each make a special connection at the party. 2002 Touchstone Television

Claude's caught in the middle when her well-meaning but overprotective parents come for a visit and Will backs out of a dinner engagement with them. Meanwhile, Kipp begins losing his edge at work when he becomes smitten with an ambitious journalism student. 2002 Touchstone Television

While housesitting for Will, Claude has her friends over to his fabulous New York apartment. When Kipp comes over uninvited, he gets quite a shock when he discovers who is on Will's speed dial list. 2002 Touchstone Television

For the first time in her life, Claude is dating two men at once, one of whom happens to be Will's godson, Oliver (played by Aaron Buerge, better known as "The Bachelor," making his acting debut). 2002 Touchstone Television

With Will's contract up for renewal, Claude recruits Ramona, Lydia, Kipp and Owen to implement a plan to keep him from being replaced by the hot-shot London bureau chief. 2002 Touchstone Television

Claude and Charlie are secretly dating, but they find its a challenge to keep it hush-hush. Meanwhile, Lydia finds a mentor who turns out to need some mentoring herself. 2002 Touchstone Television

Will's new girlfriend, Dani (Jenny McCarthy), enlists Claude to be her errand girl, while Lydia and Kipp buddy up to Owen to get into the VIP room of the hottest nightclub in town. 2002 Touchstone Television

Claude has a spicy phone call with her boyfriend and is mortified when she discovers that Will has overheard them. Meanwhile, Owen is pursued by a baby-crazy woman who wants Owen as a sperm donor. 2002 Touchstone Television

Claude decides to throw a grown-up cocktail party to celebrate her two years in New York, but the party takes a turn for the worse when Will arrives and grabs center stage. 2002 Touchstone Television

Claude is feeling down since she broke up with Charlie, but she feels even worse when she accompanies Wills fiancée to a bridal salon where they run into Trista ("The Bachelorotte"), so her friends organize an impromptu slumber party to lift her spirits. 2002 Touchstone Television

Will is asked to host a benefit dinner and chooses a squirrel clinic as the charity, which makes Claudes job of selling tables to the event a difficult one. Meanwhile, Carl gets Owen hooked on gambling and in trouble with a bookie. 2002 Touchstone Television

When a new Executive Producer, Ted Elliot, is brought in to GNB to shake things up, Claude believes she can stay above the fray. She is shocked to learn, however, that not even Will can protect her from Ted's new way of business. For the first time, Claude is forced to question her future working for Will. 2002 Touchstone Television

Owen learns that he has successfully impregnated Deirdre, the office supply rep who was looking for a sperm donor. But he has doubts about his ability to be a parent, until Claude and Ramona find his own biological father, Max, and they meet for the first time. 2002 Touchstone Television
