To celebrate the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt's death in 1669, this documentary looks at the life and times of the iconic artist. Beginning with his arrival in Amsterdam, and early rise to success as a desired painter amongst the city's elite, art historians, collectors and curators chart the course of his career over the following decades. Famed for his masterful portrayal of emotion, he struggles to complete important commissions on time, slips into debt, and suffers the loss of his children and wife.
