We return to the life of Nina Proudman six months after we left her. She has enjoyed the break from her family and messed up love life, managed to kick career goals, live a glamourous Baltimore lifestyle AND have a few flings with mysterious men. But when a family emergency throws her back into the chaos of the Proudman world, Nina lands heavily back down to earth.

The morning after their kiss, Nina fights off fantasies of young registrar Fraser, certain she can't get serious about her student. Trying to diffuse the situation at work, Nina awkwardly explains to Fraser, that while she enjoyed the kiss, they can't get to know each other in a "naked" capacity. Unfazed Fraser accepts her decision and coolly assures her he'd never let his personal feelings jeopardise their working relationship. Cherie confesses her niggling frustrations living with Sam and Nina pushes her to admit their problems run a lot deeper. As they travel to Geraldine and Darcy's recommitment dinner, Cherie takes a drastic step. Geraldine and Darcy unexpectedly find closure at their recommitment dinner, while Jimmy and Tammy surprise everyone with their big news.

Struggling with the idea that Patrick, the abusive husband of a former patient, is the ward's new anaesthetist, Nina arrives at the hospital to find her colleagues up in arms. Trying to calm the staff, Nina expresses her concerns to Clegg only to discover Patrick isn't the husband of the abused woman, but her protective brother. When Billie realises Mick is missing, she fears he's been driven away by the idea of using a sperm donor to start a family. Billie calls Jimmy for advice, and sensing his friend's masculinity has been questioned, Jimmy quickly locates Mick at their secret location. The boys discuss their respective man crises, Jimmy's manzillian request from Tammy and Mick's defective sperm. Assuring Mick that a man is only measured on his acts of courage, sacrifice and adventure, Jimmy suggests they embrace their tasks and meet for a beer later on. Meanwhile, Cherie is surprised when Darcy moves back in and Geraldine makes a drastic decision to free herself from her past with Darcy.

Worried about Fraser after his freeze during a medical emergency, Nina struggles to decide on a course of action. To her relief, Fraser arrives at work, apologetic and full of confidence the situation won't happen again. Nina insists on a full review on the incident and Fraser agrees, but privately she feels uncertain about giving him a second chance. Nina's fears are confirmed hours later when Fraser freezes again during a routine consultation and Nina finally knows Fraser isn't cut out to be an obstetrician. Meanwhile, Billie and Mick are relieved to hear Andrew will be their sperm donor. But when Mick and Andrew begin fighting over old family issues, Andrew walks out, leaving Billie and Mick back at square one.

Two weeks after Jimmy disappeared with Tammy and disowned the Proudman family, Cherie discovers that Jimmy is planning to marry Tammy in a matter of hours. Desperate to reunite the family, Nina rallies the Proudmans to attend the ceremony and whisks Tammy away to get ready for her impending nuptials. But when Tammy's jealous ex-fiance arrives at Nina's flat, determined to win her back, Tammy fears she can't go through with the wedding. Meanwhile Billie and Mick try and make a baby with little help from Mick's brother, Andrew. And at work, Nina and Fraser say goodbye, as she finds herself getting closer to the mysterious Dr Patrick Reid.

A tragedy brings Nina and Patrick closer together. Billie learns if she's a step closer to motherhood. Cherie's affair causes controversy.

Nina is determined to master the art the casual fling. Billie struggles to wrangle the men in her life.

Determined to be professional and forget her personal problems with Patrick, Nina is alarmed when Clegg requests they write a report together. At her house that evening, Patrick offends Nina when he observes she loves getting involved in everyone's drama. Billie falls in love with a house up for auction and drags Mick through an "open for inspection". Knowing they can't afford it, Mick is cautious but is eventually won over and they find themselves in a bidding frenzy.

Nina's relationship is put to the test when Patrick meets the Proudmans. Billie is forced to confront her grief.

Upset she had to learn about Patrick's tragic past via Billie, Nina is plagued with doubt over the state of their relationship. Inspired by a pep talk from Billie about the reality of relationships, Nina realises she and Patrick need to fight for their relationship and be brave enough to show each other who thy really are. After all their confessions, Nina and Patrick admit they want each other. With things mended between them, Nina is shocked to receive an email from Dr Chris Havel saying he's coming to Melbourne and looking forward to seeing her!

Nina is thrown into a spin by Chris Havel's return, even more so when she learns he is no longer with his wife. She agrees to a date with Chris, but lies to Patrick and says she has dinner plans with her family. When an innocent kiss goodbye turns heated, Nina flees, frightened by her feelings. What will this mean for Nina and Patrick?

With a future with Chris Havel on offer and Patrick giving her space, Nina makes a life altering decision in the season finale.
