About this show

Britain in 1919 is a tumultuous mix of despair and hedonism, a nation cleaned out by the extravagances of the Great War. Returning soldiers, newly minted revolutionaries and criminal gangs all fight for survival in an industrial landscape gripped by economic upheaval. Based on a true story, this drama follows one ambitious gang in Birmingham as they rise to become the most feared and powerful in town. Named for their practice of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps, the Peaky Blinders run an empire of illegal betting, protection rackets and stolen goods.

Real cult stuff..... A hopeless generation whose young men return from their bitter experience of the WW1 trenches hardened, traumatised and frankly 'slightly warped' by their experience. A group of them trying to make sense of life after carnage join forces in a lawless Midlands city under the leadership of the close knit Shelby family. They use the survival instincts, code of honour & a grit that has been learnt from 4 years of seeing their peers used as pawns by a British Aristocracy that has had its day. Where they've stood shoulder to shoulder as most of their comrades were literally blown to bits or torn apart by bayonet, guns and high explosive on the orders of some inept individuals qualified to command only by their place higher up the social ladder. They will never work for the system that did this to them again. They'll make their own way and stand or fall as "The Peaky Blinders'

I would recommend Peaky Blinders as long as you're ok with some violent scenes. I think it's a good representation of the way people lived back in those days in Birmingham and probably the world over. It is really well done, the acting is really believably and pulls you in. If it's new to you, I'd suggest you watch it from the beginning. Just marvellous. (10 / 10 for Peaky blinders)

First rate show. I was drawn in from the start....can be quite violent and language is very bad ...but still I liked it. The music is quirky and a little incongruous but I want to buy the soundtrack. Overall I loved everything about it and await season 3
