Cleaver is presented by best friend and solicitor Barney with a case he can't resist - the defence of Professor Graham Murray, a world-renowned economist accused of cannibalism.

Cleaver and Barney take on a case of jury tampering, where Lucy Marx, an attractive 40-year-old - a detail that doesn't go unnoticed by Cleaver - has made headlines by seducing a juror for information after her daughter is found guilty of murder.

Consumed by remorse after sleeping with his best friend's wife Scarlet, and facing his ninth appearance before the Bar Association, Cleaver gets a needed distraction defending a famous chef, George Dana, charged with bigamy.

Cleaver takes on a case defending a once famous but now homeless artist, Denny Lorton, who is accused of murdering a 15-year-old male prostitute. Cleaver's guilt about Barney and Scarlet sees him make a drunken spectacle of himself in front of Missy and David. But Missy is struggling to keep up her charade with David as he considers running for public office.

Cleaver prepares to defend family friend Dr. Bruce Chandler, (Sam Neill) when a very incriminating DVD finds its way to the local police. Meanwhile, Barney won't speak to him, and ex-wife Wendy blames him for his son, Fuzz's predicament, with his young English teacher, so Cleaver turns to gambling and cocaine, scoring another beating from Mick Corella's stand-over man.

Unable to resist her charms, Cleaver agrees to defend an old flame - now a successful radio shock jock Eddie Langhorn - who's charged with inciting racial hatred. Meanwhile he learns his father has had a stroke. Cleaver despairs when he realises his client has conned him but allows himself a glimmer of hope when Missy arrives unannounced once more. But she's come to tell him that she and David are getting married!

Attorney General Joe Sandilands is 'outed' as a brothel patron and devastated by the scandal. Meanwhile, Cleaver is hit over the head during a botched robbery at a pharmacy, along with one of the robbers, who dies. Cleaver is enlisted to get his mate off manslaughter charges.

Cleaver is forced to defend his loan shark Mick Corella on murder charges, and it means working with Barney again. Meanwhile, a dejected David sees his career go up in flames. Missy tries to commiserate, but finally crumbles, blurting out the truth about who she is and tells Cleaver it's over with David. She is taken aback by his reluctance to commit.

We re-discover Cleaver in the back of a limo with a woman he really, really shouldn't be with. When her husband finds out, he resolves to make it his life's work to destroy our hapless hero.

Cleaver is in the bad books with the Attorney General, while having to defend a slimy corporate thief as he sees an innocent client punished. And, best friend Barney now hates him.

Missy's book about her life as a prostitute has caused a sensation, and she's engaged. Meanwhile, Cleaver is faced with gambling debts, his psychopathic client and David Potter.

Missy and fiancé Joshua Floyd are Australia's most newsworthy couple - but luckily for Cleaver, when his woes are at their worst, he's given the case of the decade.

Cleaver defends Missy for murder, while Scarlet inadvertently, through an indiscretion with David, gives Cal the ammunition he needs.

Armed with secret knowledge learned in prison Cleaver outsmarts the hanging judges on his appeal-bench, but life outside isn't all 'Vogue Living'. He is a legal pariah, jobless, homeless and phoneless, and while he has been inside, his world has been sliding towards chaos.

Luck can turn on the toss of a coin. The humiliation of Missy's film (with a famous actor as Cleaver) leads to a drug-fuelled casino binge with young traders Horny and Paul, and enough winnings to buy a share in a restaurant.

The seemingly random murder of a security guard at Tikki Wendon Enterprises brings Felicity back into Cleaver's life. However, if her friends are not the world's least competent murderers, they are definitely the least co-operative defendants.

One man's meat is another man's misery. Cleaver is retained for a low rent tawdry sex offence. Royal Commissions that have decimated David's front bench mean that even barrel-bottom Cleaver Greene is getting briefs.

Cleaver is determined to win Felicity's heart, but God has other ideas - wickedly nasty ideas that see Cleaver subjected to perhaps the worst relay race of humiliations he has ever faced.

Siege veteran Cleaver leads Wendy, Fuzz and Prue out of Roger's hostage crisis, but is accidentally shot in the buttock. The emergency at least brings Felicity and Missy to his side and the baton is passed.

Something is seriously awry in Cleaver's world. His practice is booming. Barney is thriving. Kirsty has bought him out of the restaurant and he is falling deeply in love with Felicity who, despite herself, seems to reciprocate.

Last seen dangling from a balloon drifting across the Sydney skyline, Cleaver Greene's decent to earth lands him straight into the clutches of a one time mentor and now powerful criminal on the run, Edgar Thompson. Meanwhile Barney is adrift above the Pacific, while a drug addled Missy blows into town from LA.

Cleaver's been hiding out in the country posing as a writer, but his cover's blown when Barney appears on Australian Story, complete with images of his best friend. It isn't long before Thompson's goons arrive on the scene.

Back in the city, Cleaver's been evicted and Wendy reluctantly takes him in. Meanwhile, a nervous Cal McGregor, Premier and DPP conspire to drop most charges against Thompson because he knows too much, but knowing Cleaver still has the goods on him, Thompson plans to frame him for the drug charges. Barney is reeling from the costs of his rescue, while David and Scarlet's romance is slowly being scuttled by her children. Missy is desperate for drugs, and Cleaver's good-hearted attempt to rescue her falls on deaf ears.

Thompson has Cleaver just about stitched up on the drug charges until Wendy comes to the rescue. Meanwhile Missy's strange behaviour comes to the attention of Cleaver's' old nemesis Cal McGregor who sees a chance to bury Cleaver once and for all. David fights to keep Scarlet with devastating results, while a rejected Nicole is scrolling through her ex-husband Bevan's posts.

In the wake of Scarlet's death, everyone is affected. David is charged with her murder, a devastated Barney is trying to care for the kids, and for Wendy, it's a wakeup call to move on with her life. Missy is off snorting cocaine with her newfound friend Cal McGregor, while Nicole's renewed her relationship with Bevan.

David agrees to let Cleaver defend him, and Barney sees it as another betrayal. Meanwhile, Missy, held captive at Wendy's house to 'detox', enlists Fuzz to get her drugs and then seduces him. When Wendy has a date with an old flame, Jack, Cleaver springs into action to prove he's a changed man. When found not guilty, David announces he's standing for the Federal Labor Party in the Senate.

After David's acquittal Cleaver and Nicole worry about Barney's state of mind, but for Cleaver and David their detente is at an end. Cleaver makes the news with an off the cuff remark about judges to a journalist and ends up disbarred, and Wendy kicks him out. Cleaver's senate candidate sister Jane badmouths him on television, and he claims that he could beat her, even "standing for nothing'.

Cleaver confirms he's running as an independent Senate candidate, while David has announced he's now running as a Green. Cleaver's still determined to snatch Wendy back from Jack's clutches, but Jack is scheming to get rid of him for good. In 'do good' mode, Cleaver is also planning to get Barney and Nicole back together, while Fuzz has surprising news of his own.
