Chief Inspector Paul Gerardi is called to investigate a murder in the Matonge district of Brussels. The victim is Léon Tchité, a political opponent of General Bombé, the leader of the rebels in the African state of Katanga, a former Belgian colony. An address book is found on the body, containing names and addresses in code, but apparently, the killer was looking for something else.

The murder of the African refugee Tchité sparks anxiety in the highest political circles in Brussels. The Prime Minister wonders if Paul Gerardi can be withdrawn from the investigation. It becomes clear that the murderer was looking for film footage showing the rebel leader Bombé committing a double murder.

After he causes an accident, Paul Gerardi is suspended from the case. Paul makes an appointment with the high-class call girl, Jackie. Through her, he obtains incriminating material against General Bombé.

Paul now has the film and he wants to take it to the press. But Adams from P9 has a different plan and together, they go to the Prime Minister, hoping that he will put a stop to the conspiracy surrounding the diamond mines.

Five years after the death of his wife at the hands of the secret society Salamander, Chief Inspector Paul Gerardi is called to the case of the assassination of a Kitangian refugee in Brussels. Witnesses say the killer was a white man driving a black Mercedes who has been seriously injured after a police chase. Gerardi and his colleague Danny follow up leads provided by the victim's political allies, and Paul visits the unconscious suspect in hospital where he makes an alarming discovery.
