Shinoa's squad goes to save Guren, but unfortunately, they run out of time. Reluctantly, they leave him behind and retreat, but Yu just cannot bring himself to do that. Instead, he takes more of the Curse Stimulant Pills to go save Guren himself.

Thanks to his "experimentation," Yu makes a miraculous recovery and once again, goes back to save Guren. Pushing too hard, Yu nearly becomes a demon, but Kimizuki stops him by force. The squad carries Yu out and heads for safety, but then encounters Mika.

Yu and Mika are finally reunited, but the injuries Mika had sustained from fighting the Demon Company threatens his life. Determined to keep Mika alive, Yu tries to persuade Mika into drinking his blood... Even if it means Mika will become a true vampire.

About this show

In 2012, a man-made virus decimates the global population, sparing only children. Soon, vampires emerge to fill the void, assuming control as supernatural horrors of legend spread across the earth. The vampire overlords force the remnants of humanity beneath the surface, promising safety in exchange for donations of blood. Trapped in an underground orphanage, young Yuichiro Hyakuya plots to break free with the rest of the children. When their escape attempt is thwarted, Yuichiro vows to avenge the deaths of his fellow orphans by terminating vampires.

It started off a little ruff, as if in their haste to jump on the manga's popularity bandwagon the animation quality suffered. But it really picks up near the end, especially the fight scenes with the vampires and Moon Demon Company. It is pretty much a word for word adaption from the manga, at least this first season. I find a certain kind of joy watching the anime of a manga I so love.
