Silent Witness

An almighty explosion rips through a classy London hotel causing five fatalities and several casualties, one of whom turns out to be the Minister for Defence Procurement. Initial speculation suggests a terrorist attack until a large sum of cash is found on the Minister's bed.

An independent pathologist is brought in to conduct a second autopsy on Ayesha Khan, undermining Sam's initial findings and putting pressure on her friendship with Mary at the Cabinet Office.

Sam and Leo are on opposing sides of a high profile court case at the Old Bailey, in which two Sikh brothers are found dead in a police cell. Leo believes that the brothers were killed in custody by the police but Sam thinks that one brother killed the other before taking his own life.

Sam uncovers the crippling truth about her involvement in a case 13 years ago, in which a man was wrongfully imprisoned following the murder of his wife. After a string of new murders in which all the victims were linked to the original case, Sam realizes that she herself is in danger.

A young woman falls to her death off a high rise office building in London; it's revealed she was pregnant and taking cocaine. A black male athlete is murdered by his brother; initial signs suggest suicide by hanging, the actual cause of death is a high dose of Clenbuterol injected into his back.

The brother of the aspiring young sprinter admits that he was threatening to go public about Alice's affair with Carlton, and Alice's estranged husband Philip admits that he confronted Carlton before he died.

A drug dealer is on trial for a brutal murder. Crucial to the police evidence is the estimated time of death and Sam and her team are invited by the Home Office to re-examine the evidence. Meanwhile, Harry is asked to join the International War Crimes Commission.

Sam and her team suspect they are being used by the Home Office as Leo and Harry discover evidence linking Sachs to an American company dealing with the illegal import and export of human organs. While Harry struggles to maintain his objectivity, Sam finds more evidence damning Sachs.
