Forget what the purist' say, this Trek fan loves Discovery. The franchise had to evolve and balance both its routes with what is going to get people talking and watching. Discovery I believe does both. I love the serialised format, its refreshing for trek which mostly was episodic. Over the years it has gone in places that are really unexpected and tackled some great subjects, such as Tyler being a victim of rape and abuse. Visually its stunning, well worth its 8 million an episode price tag.

I've been a lifelong trek fan, I grew up watching it with my father, it's one of the few things we ever did together when I was a child, one of very few common grounds so it means a great deal to me. Which is why I don't say this lightly - Discovery is frankly the best ST so far. If you're too hung up on episodic content then you're missing out, an arcing story is far more emotional, characters develop before your eyes, I've teared up more watching this than any other ST. Remove the rose tints!

4.5 out of 5. I like Discovery and have watched it since season 1 on Netflix. Now I am enjoying it on Google rather than some free dodgy site, I don't need the naked ladies. The show is I believe character driven and yes Michal Burnham always makes a solution but I am enjoying other character arcs too. Tilly and Culper are two that I'm enjoying and I hope Stamets will also move on from just being a grumpy engineer to a more rounded character. Hopefully other members of the Bridge crew will be given a chance to shine and I hope Grey gets out of his room and onto a mission. Looking forward to more as the Season develops, and I can re-watch from time to time if I miss anything. Google movies has worked fine for me so far. If you don't get hung up on canon, which 900 years in the future is hard to describe, then enjoy the show for what it is.
