Behind the humor of producing the popular late-night comedy sketch show "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" is a world of backstage politics and romances, and a very delicate balance between creative talent, on-air personalities and network executives. Savvy new network president Jordan McDeere inherits a massive public relations problem on the series—on her very first day of work—when executive producer Wes Mendell sparks a media frenzy by having an on-air meltdown during a live broadcast. Jordan has to scramble to make things right by hiring back two formerly prized employees, Matt Albie and Danny Tripp, as the new executive producers of her network's flagship program.

FELICITY HUFFMAN ("Desperate Housewives") guest stars as herself.
2 The Cold Open

Matt and Danny have five days to put together their first show, which is receiving enormous media attention. Harriet tries her best to work with Matt, with whom she's recently broken up. Meanwhile, Jordan puts her new job on the line by standing up to pressure regarding a controversial sketch.

Meanwhile, Jordan rejects a lucrative but tasteless new reality series.
