Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Behind the humor of producing the popular late-night comedy sketch show "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" is a world of backstage politics and romances, and a very delicate balance between creative talent, on-air personalities and network executives. Savvy new network president Jordan McDeere inherits a massive public relations problem on the series—on her very first day of work—when executive producer Wes Mendell sparks a media frenzy by having an on-air meltdown during a live broadcast. Jordan has to scramble to make things right by hiring back two formerly prized employees, Matt Albie and Danny Tripp, as the new executive producers of her network's flagship program.

Matt and Danny have five days to put together their first show, which is receiving enormous media attention. Harriet tries her best to work with Matt, with whom she's recently broken up. Meanwhile, Jordan puts her new job on the line by standing up to pressure regarding a controversial sketch.

A network focus group sends a scare through the company when the results indicate that the ratings success of Matt and Danny's first show might have been a one-time thing.

When they discover that the show has inadvertently plagiarized another comedian's material during a sketch, the team members scramble to break into the taped West Coast feed to correct their error.

While the cast goes through rehearsals with LAUREN GRAHAM (herself - "Gilmore Girls," "Bad Santa") and musician STING (himself), a reporter named Martha O'Dell (recurring guest star CHRISTINE LAHTI - "Chicago Hope," "Jack & Bobby") tries to get the story on Matt and Harriet. Meanwhile, Jordan rejects a lucrative but tasteless new reality series.

A drunken Jordan makes friends with the cast during an after-show party. Danny tries to get Matt's mind off Harriet with the help of three sexy women. Simon makes a plea to hire more black writers. And Cal deals with a mysterious man, Eli Weinraub (ELI WALLACH - "The Godfather: Part III," "The Magnificent Seven"), backstage.

An unusual collection of people must go to a small town in Nevada to get Tom out of jail in time for the show that night. Recurring guest star JOHN GOODMAN appears as Judge Robert Bebe, who is not a fan of the sketch show.

After the show wraps, Matt discovers that Ricky (recurring guest star EVAN HANDLER) and Ron (recurring guest star CARLOS JACOTT) are planning to leave and take the writing staff with them. Meanwhile, Harriet contemplates doing a lingerie spread in a magazine. And Jordan and Danny wrestle with budget cuts.

While the cast members work through the show despite being ravaged by a virus, Matt must survive the week with a new and much smaller writing staff. Meanwhile, Jordan tells Danny that she is pregnant.

As he helps prepare the holiday show, Matt remains determined to bring the Christmas spirit to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Danny wrestles with his true feelings for Jordan.

In the first part of a three-part episode, the cast and staff come back from their holiday break and prepare for the first show of the new year. Meanwhile, Danny is in full pursuit of Jordan. And Matt starts bidding for a date with Harriet in an online auction, not realizing that this is the beginning of the end.

Matt remembers how he and Harriet first met.

On a Wednesday night, Matt is stuck with writer's block. He also has to contend with a young lawyer, Mary Tate (recurring guest star KARI MATCHETT - "Invasion"), who is investigating a sexual harassment claim. Meanwhile, Harriet continues shooting her movie. And Jordan and Danny compete to see who would make a better parent.

The production goes haywire when the propmasters and cue card workers stage a last-minute wildcat strike. ALLISON JANNEY ("The West Wing," "American Beauty") is the guest host of the sketch show.

Jordan experiences an emergency with her pregnancy during the live show. Meanwhile, an even larger crisis is unfolding for Tom. And Matt's pill use is discovered.
