The trio seeks justice after a woman is executed for her child's disappearance. When a diplomat's baby also goes missing shortly after, they deduce that this is the work of a serial killer.

Sara and Kreizler suspect dark goings-on at the Lying-In Hospital where NYPD detectives find crucial forensic evidence, while Moore investigates a link to New York's criminal underworld.

Sara persuades Libby Hatch, a Lying-In nurse, to give information. Kreizler believes that hypnosis may unlock Senora Linares's traumatic memories. Sara struggles with her feelings for Moore.

Sara worries for Bitsy, who is undercover at the Lying-In. Moore and Violet are thrown an engagement ball where Sara and Kreizler confront a suspect in the case. The killer strikes again.

The team is hot on the heels of the murderer after finding the matron dead, but they find that not even Sara’s office is out of the killer's reach. Sara enlists Joanna's help with the case.

Kreizler's medical license is suspended after a young patient accidentally attempts suicide. Sara and the team discover the killer's hideaway, where they infer there will be a sixth victim.

Sara, Kreizler, and Moore search for clues in the killer's dark past. Byrnes plans to double-cross the team. Sara and Moore are forced to confront their feelings.

With New York in an all-out manhunt for the killer, Sara, Moore, and Kreizler must overcome the wrath of the police and the Duster gang as the team race to save innocent lives.
