When Thames Valley policeman Sam Speed wakes up in the terrifyingly black and white world of 1951 he is taken in by landlady Ma Willow. Meanwhile, Nan has a rat in her flat and Nathalie Cassidy guest stars as Kelly, a cheerleader with her eye on Lauren's boyfriend.

Derek Faye meets Bonnie Langford, Lauren receives a proposal and Nan has a new neighbour upstairs. Bernie's brothers and sisters are over on a visit from Ireland and cause havoc at the hospital.

It's Lauren's wedding day, the Aga Saga Woman has a disaster with yogurt and Derek is offered more than a back rub when he goes for a massage. Sheila Hancock appears as Nan's sister June and Essex couple Paul and Sam return with more laughs.
