Comedy which follows the hikes, heartaches, friendships and rivalries of a misfit rambling club. Club organiser Bob begins a titanic battle of wills with the newest member, Christine, for the heart and soul of his treasured walking group. Bob's teenage daughter Hazel is mortified at the arrival of geeky Victor from her school and married businesswoman Sophie is looking for a way out from her freeloading husband Joe.

Christine is now deputy leader of the club and is soon winning the hearts and minds of the group, especially Bob's best friend Tom. Meanwhile, stressed businesswoman Sophie makes a desperate leap on Victor and the group must face down the rambler's worst enemy - a farmer who keeps blocking public rights of way.

On the annual trip to the south coast, Bob and Christine's rivalry finally comes to a head. Meanwhile, Victor is hoping he will finally get his promised kiss from Hazel and Tom plucks up courage for his own romance.

Meanwhile, Hazel, Bob's 18-year-old daughter, is being pursued by Victor, a chess-loving geek from school - and Victor is being pursued by Sophie, a stressed 30-something businesswoman seeking some escape from her claustrophobic marriage to Joe - a charming but manipulative freeloader. Every episode is a voyage of personal discovery, like a miniature road movie - but with sturdy footwear instead of a car.
