Two men in overalls sit in a sewage truck on a Marseille street; a third carrying paint pots approaches a store. The doorman opens and is brutally head-butted. All three workmen burst into the shop, a high-class jewellery store. The daring heist in broad daylight has all the hallmarks of the infamous Pink Panther gang – supposed to have retired years ago. But something goes wrong: a young girl is shot in the bungled getaway. This isn’t just a hunt for diamonds, now it's a hunt for killer.

Early morning. Les Agnettes estate in Marseille is slowly waking. Heavily armed riot police infiltrate the blocks and burst into various carefully-targeted apartments. Khalil notices something suspicious and orders them to break into a flat for which they don’t have a warrant. They find guns but are also shot at by a man hidden in wardrobe. The suspect is killed and Khalil and a colleague wounded. Khalil traces the weapons and proves they are linked to the ones used at the jewellery heist, but his key witnesses are killed.

In present-day London, following Tosic’s tip-off, Naomi assembles a surveillance team to track a well-known diamond dealer Sol Meyer. Among the team, her ex husband Michael Farnborough whom she hasn’t seen for years. It is not until too late that Naomi discovers the diamonds were inside Zlatko’s dog, but when she finally breaks into Sol’s house the dog is dead and the diamonds are gone. Naomi’s diamond investigation is at a dead end. But she still hasn’t found this man who saved her, Milan Celik, with whom it is clear she has a past connection.

Milan and Dragan are trying to get back to Belgrade before Zlatko can harm Milan’s brother, Adnan. They must travel clandestinely across Europe, and are helped through the mountains by Jamezdin, the Roma gangster from episode one. But in the night Jamezdin riddles their tents with gunfire having done a deal with Zlatko: Dragan lies dead but Milan’s tent is empty - he has escaped.

The airport consortium needs cash that can’t be tracked, and Zlatko has dirty money he needs laundering. It's a perfect marriage. Khalil discovers that Roman and Manu are in cahoots and plans a sting, with Mokhtar, to expose them. On their way to Belgrade to rescue Adnan, Dragan and Milan are helped by Jamezdin, a friend of Dragan. Naomi tracks down the man that handed over Zltako’s dog and follows him to Vienna where he meets Guillaume von Reeth. Von Reeth is wearing a distinctive watch – the one stolen in the heist. Khalil and Mokhtar’s arms deal trap goes wrong. In Belgrade, Tom refuses to hear Naomi’s warnings. She follows Zlatko to where his men are holding Adnan.

Milan tells Naomi he has nothing left to live for now Adnan is dead. Except to kill Zlatko. Zlatko and his new-found associates are travelling to London for the announcement of the airport project at a select EU finance summit – will Naomi help Milan to get a false passport so he can follow Zlatko? She says she will but she will not let him go alone.

Now, a heist in the south of France bears all the hallmarks of the Panthers. Apart from one tragic difference: the death of a little girl during the getaway. The death sparks a series of events across Europe that sets a British insurance loss adjuster, a French-Algerian cop and a Serbian soldier-turned-diamond thief on a dramatic and dangerous collision course. What starts with diamonds, leads to guns, drugs, high-finance and involves the corridors of power in the EU, the City of London and the murky world of Europe’s criminal underworld.
