Leading divorce lawyer Hannah Stern walks out on the family firm, Defoes, to join rival company Noble & Hale. She now faces her sister Nina and mother, Ruth, also successful family lawyers, on the opposing side of high-profile divorce cases.

Hannah is in the eye of a media storm as she negotiates a Premier League soccer player's prenup - a tricky negotiation made all the more difficult on discovering the opposing lawyer is Christie's ex-wife.

Hannah finds herself caught in the middle when Nathan and Christie clash on a highly charged divorce case. Ruth continues to evade questions regarding Oscar's return and the increasing concern over Defoes' finances.

The stakes are high after an illicit extramarital dating website is hacked and a list of high-profile names are leaked. As Rose and James's wedding draws near, Ruth hosts a dinner party for all the family with disastrous consequences.

Hannah, for so long adept at navigating other people's lives and relationships, is confronted with painful questions about her own. At Defoe's, Ruth is also facing some uncomfortable questions as Goldie rejects their financial offer.
