1 The Inn At Whitewell

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon star in this improvised comedy about two actors on a culinary tour of the north of England. Steve is commissioned to review half a dozen restaurants to review for a Sunday newspaper and plans the trip with his American girlfriend ? only to face the prospect of a week of meals-for-one after they separate. So Steve calls old friend Rob to accompany him, and the pair find themselves debating the big questions of life over a series of delightful dishes. They begin their Trip at the Inn at Whitewell, in the beautiful Trough of Bowland, where a mix-up booking means they have to share a room.

Steve and Rob enjoy a taster meau at L?Enclume in the Cumbrian Village of Cartnel as they continue their culinary tour of the north of England, reviewing restaurants for a Sunday newspaper.

3 Holbeck Ghyll

Continuing their journey of the north o England, Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon travel to Holbeck Ghyll; a luxury country house hotel in the lake district, where they once again sit down to eat together and ponder their place in the world.

4 Hipping Hall

Next stop is Hipping Hall, a 17th century house, steeped in history and now host to Steve and Rob. We learn more about the pair as they dine together for the fourth time on their culinary tour of the north.

Steve Coogan has been commissioned by a Sunday newspaper to review half a dozen restaurants in the North of England. When his food-loving American girlfriend backs out, Steve is faced with a week of meals for one. Reluctantly, he calls Rob Brydon, the only person he can think of who will be available. Heading north in a stylish black Range Rover, the pair begin a journey of bickering, jokes and reflection. Across the dinner tables of the North's best restaurants, the neurotic and sardonic Coogan and the genial, eager-to-entertain Brydon spar on everything from Coleridge or career insecurities to which of them does the best Michael Caine impression. Out of a relationship between two friends spending more time in one another's company than they might wish, emerges sparkling dialogue, real poignancy and great laugh out loud comedy.
