Set in the fictitious Summerhouse Estate, Top Boy is an honest and gripping rendition of inner-city urban drug and gang culture in East London. Thirteen-year-old Ra'Nell is left alone after his mentally ill mother Lisa is suddenly hospitalised. At the same time his mum's friend Heather, pregnant and penniless, enlists Ra'Nell's help in a dangerous plan she has concocted to give her baby the chances she never had. Meanwhile, Dushane runs a thriving drug business with his friend Sully and makes a deal with drug barron, Bobby Raikes, in hope of becoming top boy at Summerhouse.
