Up All Night

Determined not to compromise her career or cool reputation to the clichés of motherhood, Reagan Brinkley (Christina Applegate) adjusts to life with a baby and returns to work with the support of her stay-at-home husband, Chris (Will Arnett). As if motherhood weren't enough, as a talk-show executive producer, Reagan must also tend to the endless needs of her friend and boss Ava (Maya Rudolph), an ambitious but vulnerable talk-show host. Nick Cannon stars as Ava's charismatic co-host Calvin and Jennifer Hall stars as Ava's long-suffering assistant Missy. Matt Lauer guest stars.

When a "cool" new couple moves in across the street, Reagan (Christina Applegate) and Chris (Will Arnett) become obsessed with finding out every detail about them. Concerned about their newborn's welfare, Chris aims to negotiate a deal for the perfect new car that is safe but not boring. Meanwhile, Ava (Maya Rudolph) decides to take on more serious talk show topics, but is overwhelmed by the amount of preparation it takes to pull it off. Nick Cannon and Jennifer Hall also star.

Reagan's (Christina Applegate) extreme competiveness comes out at a New Year's Eve game night, much to Chris's (Will Arnett) embarrassment. Meanwhile, Kevin (guest star Jason Lee) worries that Ava (Maya Rudolph) is ashamed of him and Missy (Jennifer Hall) brings an unexpected date to the party.

Reagan (Christina Applegate) and Ava (Maya Rudolph) are thrown into a spiral when rival talk-show host and former friend of the show, Shayna (guest star Megan Mullally, "Will and Grace"), is suspected of stealing their show ideas. At home, Reagan develops some jealous feelings towards Chris's (Will Arnett) new female friend. Jennifer Hall also stars.

Reagan (Christina Applegate) becomes determined to secure a coveted spot for Amy at a prestigious preschool. In an effort to win favor with the admissions office, Reagan volunteers to spearhead the school's annual fundraiser and enlists Ava (Maya Rudolph) to help her run a charity auction. Meanwhile, when Chris's (Will Arnett) older brother (guest star Dean Winters, "30 Rock") comes to visit, the two Brinkley boys revert to their old competitive childhood ways. This acquisition brings more than they were expecting when Yvonne's right hand, Luke Granby (guest star Steven Pasquale, "Rescue Me"), an ex-military man, takes charge as the new boss. When Chris (Will Arnett) gets a segment on the Ava show, Reagan (Christina Applegate) starts to realize how much she needs her own space at work. Meanwhile, Ava's (Maya Rudolph) dad (guest star Henry Winkler) visits with his family, who are more interested in meeting celebrities like Sharon Osbourne (as herself), Ava's rival, than spending time with Ava. Reagan (Christina Applegate) and Ava's (Maya Rudolph) changing responsibilities at home, a newly walking Amy and Julian's (guest star Chris Diamantopoulos) most recent gift to Ava, a dog, threaten to interfere with the booking of their dream guest -- music legend Stevie Nicks (as herself). Meanwhile, Chris (Will Arnett) might be in over his head when he is "promoted" to a younger hockey league. Jennifer Hall also stars.

With Reagan (Christina Applegate) working more closely with Luke (guest star Steven Pasquale), Chris (Will Arnett) starts to show signs of jealousy, but it takes his buddy Reed's (guest star Will Forte) bad advice to send him into a full-blown panic. Meanwhile, Ava (Maya Rudolph) is surprised to learn that her rival will be competing against her in a 10K run for charity and enlists the help of celebrity trainer Gideon Kirk (guest star Fred Armisen). When Reagan (Christina Applegate) loses her engagement ring, a Brinkley family heirloom, Chris (Will Arnett) uses the opportunity to give Reagan the proposal he was never able to give. In order to cover up losing the ring, Regan must seek out her worst enemy -- Chris' grandmother (guest star Marion Ross). Meanwhile, Kevin (guest star Jason Lee) returns and tries to win Ava (Maya Rudolph) back with the help of Julian (guest star Chris Diamantopoulos). Jennifer Hall also stars.
