About this show

Versailles, 1667. Haunted by the trauma of the Fronde as the nobles of his court begin to rebel against the monarchy, Louis XIV(George Blagden) in his 28th year in a Machiavellian political move decides to make the nobility submit by imposing a definite move of the court from Paris to Versailles, his father's former hunting lodge.

Visually beautiful. Although not historical accurate, it is fun to watch. I could enjoy it more if Google Play Movies and TV would provide subtitles CC as I miss about 40% of what the characters are saying due to a hearing impairment (even with a hearing aid).

You do get interested, but I can't quite get used to the overacting and historical inaccuracies. Prefer BBC where sex doesn't become centre of everything and history is given a fair place.Close, but no cigar.

An absolutely amazing series Ive enjoyed every minute, the 4 main male charachters were simply made for these roles. I cannot believe they have cancelled season 4, if I had the money I would financw it myself or people could get together and raise the money for season 4 it's to good to stop now.I love Alexander Vlahos as Philippe De Leon, George Blagden played a great Louis xiv, Thye Runnyan was excellant as head of Police & Evan Williams was great as the background sceamer & unlikely hero.
