The series is about on par with season 7 or 8, where there's about 1/3 normal episodes and 2/3 nonsense drama involving Scully. BUT, there's an extended Fox ad at the beginning of every episode where they plug other shows. Since ads in any form are unacceptable to me, paying for ads is beyond unacceptable. It also has an obnoxious Fox watermark that's always on the screen. Since there was no warning before I paid for this, it makes me hesitant to buy anything else off the Play Store, and I refuse to buy anything from Fox. To restate: PAYING FOR ADS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

im sorry to see that waiting fifteen years as a huge fan of the original series as a teen, i expected more from the integrity of the people involved, we see half ass attempts from each episode to bring back one episode of all the different types of shows from sarcastic intrigue, to abductions.. but if you are going to do this then do it proper,or until its acceptable material, the plotting and scripts are half baked.sadly

The mythology episodes are quite bad, in my opinion. The writers didn't seem to know where to take the show, and in some ways it takes away from the original 9 seasons and the movies. They made me angry, but I couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was. However, episodes 3 and 4 may be some of the best, most entertaining and interesting episodes of the series ever. They are hilarious, thought-provoking, and they have clear messages. They hearken back to some of the best episodes from the original series, and in my opinion they make up for the story episodes. The ending (without any spoilers) left much to be desired, but with season 11 confirmed for later this year (2017), I'm positive they will take it somewhere better, and more interesting. In short, the mythology episodes get 2 stars, but the monster-of-the-week episodes get a 5 out of 5. Looking forward to the future of the series!
