Writing this review after watching the first four episodes. As with NCIS and NCIS:LA, it takes a few episodes for the characters to settle in and for the viewer to make the necessary connections with the characters. For me, by episode 4, that is happening. Apparently I am not alone since CBS recently confirmed the original 13 episodes has now been expanded to an entire season. If you like NCIS and NCIS:LA and are not expecting a clone of either show and like the way the characters interact, I think you will like NCIS:Hawai'i.

OK, this show gets some hate, and I think most complaints are off base but not without merit. The actors are actually great, the chemistry is there, the writing is solid, yet something keeps falling flat, making scenes awkward, clunky, sometimes even cringey. IMO, the real problem here is the scoring/incidental music. Seriously, go on YT and watch some of undeniably great movie scenes with no music, and it has the same feel. Without good scoring, it just falls flat. Otherwise, it's solid.
