The Indian Doctor

Life for the Indian Doctor and other residents of the sleepy Valley village of Trefelin takes an unexpected turn with the homecoming of Basil and Robert Thomas, sons of a distinguished local family, who have returned with big plans for the village. Shopkeeper Sian excitedly spreads the news, but the brothers' return dashes Kamini's hopes of moving into the house of her dreams and Prem takes the brunt of her anger. Meanwhile, would-be revolutionaries Aled and Daf are busy looking for a cause to protest, but it is the Thomas brothers' grand announcement of their plans for Trefelin which spells out a clear threat to normal village life - and Prem's future.

The Thomas brothers begin trying to convince Trefelin to back their plan for a New Town, complete with new supermarket and surgery. Whilst suave Doctor Robert renews his acquaintance with his childhood sweetheart, Megan, older brother Basil soon has the village hall busy with villagers eager to exchange their house deeds as deposits for homes with all mod cons in the new development. Aled and Daf decide they need to do something big to stop Basil's development plan but Robert surprises Prem by offering him a central role in their grand new scheme. Prem tells Owen that he cannot work in the mine any more because of his health, and late in the day a forlorn Megan calls at the surgery with some unexpected news.

An act of sabotage breaks the village's calm, and Basil Thomas wastes no time in telling Emlyn who he thinks is to blame. Sian decides that farmer Ceri might be worth ensnaring with her feminine charms - at least if he really has come into some unexpected money - and Robert is doing his best to win Megan back, much to Emlyn's alarm. Egmlyn signs up for a new house in the development, but Megan is far from pleased. And they.re not the only couple to fall out when Prem confronts Kamini over a job offer in Robert's new surgery. But Prem's anger is cut short when he discovers that, against his advice, Owen has gone back to work underground - with disastrous results.

At the mine Prem, Emlyn and Owen are trapped deep underground following the accident at the mine. Meanwhile, an unknowing Kamini is left to deal with the patients in the surgery and with an AWOL Dan. Basil's continuing drive for new home buyers is reaping great results and even has Ceri seeking his advice on how to deal with Sian, while Robert takes advantage of Emlyn's absence by attempting to seduce Megan. Below ground, the trapped men each battle with their demons as their situation takes an even more serious turn and they're left with an impossible choice...

Prem and Emlyn begin to suspect foul play behind the collapse at the mine. If it's no accident then Aled and Daf are the prime suspects, but they protest their innocence. Robert pleads with Megan to leave Trefelin with him, but Prem confronts him with the truth about his past and Basil's real intentions. With Dan's help, Kamini uncovers the real story behind Basil's plans for New Trefelin, and in a tense climax Prem challenges the con-man behind the plan.
