Mad Men's star Don Draper is one of multiple-sided personality problems set forth in a man who had to make it to the top on his own, afraid if the CEO'x\'s of the advertising agency knew his poor on the wrong side of town background, he wouldn't get to first base; let alone in the upper hiearchy of business. That's one reason that he didn't even have his own Social Security card but used his brother's. And, that was the main reason he was not capable of loving his first wife. She was from a wealthy, high class family and all his straying away just proved how inadequate he felt in her presence. And the downward spiral continued with his second marriage to a young stage starlet---to be continued..

I had a hard time getting into this show. I get it, the gender roles were very stratified back in the day, but they will not let you forget that. The repetitive story telling got a bit stale afterthe 5th episode.

Dad was of this era and drank and smoked on the job except that it took place in Hughes. His ideals about looking sharp and dealing with the same political issues had me intrigued with this show. Although the acting at times was lackluster and even amateur occasionally the episodes had me coming back for more.
