About this show

Sarah Lancashire stars as Catherine Cawood, a police sergeant in a small town where drunkards, drug addicts and teenage pregnancies are a way of life. Her world is turned upside down when the man she thinks is responsible for her daughter's death is released from prison.

I'm familiar with Sarah Lawrence from so many other BBC series. Happy Valley is great to watch when I can finally get the episodes offered consecutive. Must be a local station director messing episodes up. (SLC, UTAH)

On paper this might seem like a run-of-the-mill procedural but it is not! The episodes are character-driven, intelligent, & emotionally intense. Seemingly small choices by the director & cast & writers will surprise you and make this narrative very satisfying. The sound editing is superb. The cinematography is chilling. The acting is A)believeable and B)top-notch. I will be adding the director, producer, actors, and studio to my must-watch list. Wow.
