Season 3 episodes (20)

1 Starting Over
9/19/05
Robert James (series star DUANE MARTIN) is handsome, smart and thoroughly modern in his thinking--as he should be, considering his romantic and parental entanglements. Robert is divorced from the somewhat self-absorbed Neesee James (series star LISARAYE McCOY), the mother of their endearing young son, Bobby (series star KHAMANI GRIFFIN). Providing friendship and varying degrees of support and advice is Dirk Black (series star TONY ROCK), Robert's best friend and producer. On the heels of his breakup with his former fiancée Tia and the loss of his job a few months earlier, Robert attempts to get his life back on track until his ex-wife, Neesee, is forced to move in with him after her apartment burns down. Meanwhile, Dirk talks Robert into going to a meeting to pitch a new talk show.
2 If You Can't Stand the Heat...
9/26/05
Robert and Dirk excitedly prepare to appear in their new talk show, "Get Real." Dirk is confident he will be a great co-host--until the cameras go on, and he freezes! After Dirk reveals that he had an embarrassing public-speaking incident as a kid, Robert agrees to do all the talking on the show. But Robert smartly tricks Dirk into overcoming his fears, and the show is a success. Meanwhile, with both Neesee and Bobby living with him full time, Robert is getting no rest or relaxation. But when he demands that she quickly get her own place, Neesee prepares to buy a dingy, burnt-out restaurant and convert it into a home for her and Bobby. Robert finally agrees to let her live with him until she has the time to find a suitable place.
3 Kiss, Kiss, Pass
10/3/05
Dirk takes Robert to the dance club for the first time since Robert's divorce, and despite his disconcerting honesty, Robert manages to get a date with a cute woman, Andrea (recurring guest star DAYA VAIDYA). Unfortunately, upon learning that the lascivious Dirk once dated Andrea, Robert rudely refuses to get intimate with Andrea. In a fantasy sequence, Robert imagines all the women Dirk has slept with, including ANNA NICOLE SMITH (herself). Finally, Robert realizes that he is making excuses to avoid being hurt in a relationship again, and he reconciles with Andrea. Meanwhile, Bobby gets frustrated when the tooth fairy does not arrive.
4 Love at First Type
10/10/05
When Dirk brags about his success with Internet dating, Neesee and Robert each secretly try it. Without knowing it, they go to the same site and have a romantic chat with each other from two different rooms of the house and even set up a date. When Robert sees Neesee waiting alone at a bar, he realizes what's going on and feels sorry for her. But her attitude only causes him to continue to lead her on, which she ultimately discovers--and she promptly tricks Robert in return. Meanwhile, little Bobby's advice actually helps Dirk with his love problems.
5 Divorce Means Never Having to Say You're Sorry
10/24/05
When Robert and Neesee realize that their constant arguing is affecting Bobby, Jr., Neesee suggests they attend couples therapy. Meanwhile, Dirk uses Bobby, Jr. to help him meet women.
6 School Colors
10/24/05
Robert wants to enroll Bobby in one of the best schools in the state, the prestigious Cresthaven Academy. At first, Neesee is against Robert's plan until they meet with the principal and learn that the majority of the students matriculate to the nation's top universities--and scholarships are available. Bobby returns home from his first day at the new school and announces that he wants to be white when he grows up. After a quick lesson in black history, race and culture, Robert and Neesee think everything has been resolved. But a phone call from the school on the following day proves otherwise. In a rush to judgment, Neesee calls CONGRESSWOMAN MAXINE WATERS (herself) to complain about racism in the school, unaware that Bobby has unintentionally offended all of his white classmates. Ultimately, a conference with the principal clears up the confusion. Meanwhile, Dirk and Robert deal with a focus group's comments about their new TV show.
7 The Spy Who Smoked Me
11/7/05
When Robert installs a hidden nanny camera to check on the baby-sitter, he discovers that Neesee has resumed her smoking habit. But in trying to help her, Robert begins smoking as well. MERCEDES ("America's Next Top Model") guest stars.

Although Vonte claims to have become a better person, Neesee refuses to reconcile with him--until Robert makes a kind gesture and shows her how important family is. 12 Neesee's Grave Plot
1/16/06

Feeling bad about lying to Aunt Telly, Neesee admits the truth--and quickly regrets it even more. Meanwhile, Dirk takes advantage of knowing all the likes and dislikes of a woman who once dated him but has since forgotten. And Bobby refuses to take off his smelly Superman cape. GARRETT MORRIS ("Saturday Night Live," "The Jamie Foxx Show") guest stars as Uncle Cyrus.
13 Trying to Love Two (Ain't Easy to Do)

Recently divorced and raising their son, Robert and Neesee refuse to buy into the old stereotype that being divorced means you can't get along with the ex.
