Sean Saves the World

Sean (Sean Hayes) is a divorced dad who juggles a lot - his successful but demanding career, offbeat employees, pushy mom, Lorna (Linda Lavin), and weekends with his teenage daughter, Ellie (Samantha Isler). So when his 14-year-old bundle of joy moves in full time, the parenting books come out in full force. From keeping his boss, Max, (Thomas Lennon) happy, employees motivated and enduring his mother's tactless "advice" to raising a smart, grounded and healthy kid, it's going to be a growing experience, to say the least. But if anyone can handle it all, it's Sean.

Sean (Sean Hayes) contemplates whether or not he should ask Liz (Megan Hilty) or Lorna (Linda Lavin) to help find Ellie (Samantha Isler) her first bra. Elsewhere, Max (Thomas Lennon) gives Sean an inappropriate gift.

While worried about Ellie's (Samantha Isler) whereabouts, Sean (Sean Hayes) has a blind date with a Periodontist, Chase (Robert Gant). Meanwhile back at the office, Max (Thomas Lennon) thinks Sean has a crush on him.

When Max's (Thomas Lennon) father, Lee (guest star Stacy Keach), visits, Max takes the paternal pressure out on his employees. Meanwhile, Sean (Sean Hayes) devises a plan to set up Lorna (Linda Lavin) on a date with Lee so he'll be nicer to his son.

Sean (Sean Hayes) fakes an injury to get out of partnering with Lorna (Linda Lavin) in a ballroom dance competition. After seeing how kindly Lorna treats Hunter (Echo Kellum), Sean joins forces with Liz (Megan Hilty) to compete against them.

In order to comfort Liz (Megan Hilty) and her relationship problems, Sean (Sean Hayes) pretends that he has been rejected by a crush. Meanwhile, Lorna (Linda Lavin) takes it further and drives Sean to go on a date with his dry cleaner, Mr. Kim (guest star Bobby Lee) to make Liz happy. Elsewhere, Max (Thomas Lennon) uses Hunter (Echo Kellum) as a wingman.

Feeling the pressure from Lorna (Linda Lavin), Sean (Sean Hayes) decides to move beyond being just a "fun dad," and attempts to teach Ellie (Samantha Isler) the value of discipline. Elsewhere, Max (Thomas Lennon) messes with Hunter's (Echo Kellum) head.

Max (Thomas Lennon) enlists Sean's (Sean Hayes) help to pinpoint the mole leaking company strategies to Sean's former boss Andrew, (guest star Craig Ferguson) at their rival company. Meanwhile, Lorna (Linda Lavin) and Sean become nervous when Ellie (Samantha Isler) befriends an older girl from school.

Sean (Sean Hayes) finds a new best friend, Tippy (guest star Sarah Baker) who proves to be a handful, after discovering a secret Liz (Megan Hilty) has been keeping. Meanwhile, Max (Thomas Lennon) strong-arms Hunter (Echo Kellum) and Sean to help fix a bulky mistake he made.

Sean (Sean Hayes) will bedazzle this week as he strives to be a more involved dad at Ellie's (Samantha Isler) school. At the same time Liz (Megan Hilty) and Hunter (Echo Kellum) discover something unsettling when they become temporary roommates. Max (Thomas Lennon) searches for a heartbreak diversion.

As Max's (Thomas Lennon) dad, Lee (guest star Stacy Keach), returns to finally be with Lorna (Linda Lavin), Sean (Sean Hayes) and Max partner up to do whatever they need to prevent this unthinkable act. Meanwhile Ellie (Samantha Isler) asks for advice from Liz (Megan Hilty) and Hunter (Echo Kellum) which puts them into an awkward parenting situation.

Max (Thomas Lennon) decides to go into business with Roger (guest star James Patrick Stuart), a man who had an affair with Sean's (Sean Hayes) ex-wife, and Sean is determined to stop this con-artist from causing any further havoc. Meanwhile, Lorna (Linda Lavin) goes on a juice cleanse to fit into her college uniform and best her old college rival, Betty (guest star Jennifer Rhodes).

Liz (Megan Hilty) and Lorna (Linda Lavin) decide to team up and conspire to sabotage Sean's (Sean Hayes) date with a pretentious ex-boyfriend, Colin (guest star Humphrey Ker). At the same time Max (Thomas Lennon) convinces Hunter (Echo Kellum) to help house his flock of pet birds.

When Jill, Sean's ex-wife and Ellie's mom (Portia de Rossi), comes into town, Sean worries that her exciting lifestyle will sway Ellie to move back to NY with her. Lorna and Lee finally get together.

Sean falls for Max's fencing instructor (Guys Pearce) who has a passion for justice and believes Sean does, too.
