About this show

Thousands of years after the destruction of our civilization, Earth is divided into what is known as the Four Lands, whose inhabitants are a mix of races including elves, dwarves, trolls, gnomes and humans.  At the center is the Shannara family, whose descendants are empowered with ancient magic and whose adventures continuously reshape the future of the world. As the story begins, dark and terrible forces thought to be confined for years, begin to escape.  When Amberle, a young elven princess; Wil, the last descendant of the Shannara family; and Eretria, a human rover learn that only they have the power to stop the advancing evil, they form an uneasy alliance.Their seemingly impossible quest to save the world becomes a voyage of self-discovery as they find the inner strength to overcome self-doubt and fear, and embrace their destinies.

If (like me) you are a fan of the original books about Shannara (by Terry Brooks) or even just a fan of fantasy novels (Tolkien, Gemmel, Abbercrombe etc) then avoid this like the plague. By contrast if you are a fan of inane, vacuous programmes full of beautiful people with no acting ability (One Tree Hill, 90210 etc) then this will be right up your street.

Not following the logic on pricing - why pay £36 for the season in High Def, when buying each of the 10 episodes in High Def will cost £26. Are there a lot of season-only extras, or is it just a mistake?

Mr Brooks, (in my opinion at least) should be elivated to the level of Mr Tolkien as I've enjoyed his books just as must as I, (as well as grew up with) the Lord of the rings!!! Terry Brooks is a God among Authors in the fantasy range and I sincerly hope I get to keep on reading his literature for many years to come! Thank you Mr Brooks for the many hours of entertainment you've given me over the year!!! 😊😊😊
