About this show

Across the country, thousands of old buildings lie forgotten and neglected, tangled up by red tape and development restrictions, or just slowly mouldering into decay on the landscape. Many of these properties are of outstanding historical interest. Hosted by renowned designer Sibella Court, Restoration Australia follows seven of these wonderful buildings – from Georgian mansions to colonial pug and pine huts – as they are transformed by people committed to the daunting task of restoring heritage ruins. These people, with limited budgets, are dedicated to embracing our country’s past and to restoring not only a house and a piece of Australian history, but a home to be loved and lived in. Through spiralling budgets, confusing bureaucracy, the stresses and strains of living and working in old structures, none of these projects is an easy ride.

The show is awesome but to finish season 2 on that horrible Gasworks renovation was just totally uninspiring, I guess money doesn't buy taste. Can someone tell me how that was restoration? To build a structure that looks like a giant wasp nest in what was a truely magnificent space before they started has me totally baffled, the yuppie architects ruined this majestic old building, total vandalism in my opinion.

Raw and emotion filled. This couple are tough, she is always frustrated at his dogged innocence in getting a job done, but she loves him. You can see that. Through the hell of the 2009 Kinglake bushfires to the warmth of their new home, it is a riveting tale of heartbreak come good. I love the Irish plasterer. He is so honest. Reminds me of Dave Allen the comedian. I really do not like the intro in this series; all dramatic and serious and so dully horrible deathly music. I wish it were more light hearted! This series is a sister to the English tv show Restoration Man, even the start is almost identical word for word! I love George on the English show and wish Sibella would lighten up a bit! Great watching this episode, much better than the first one. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series.
