The trailblazing series was the first reality show to introduce the cinema vérité style to network television and has gone on to become a cultural phenomenon.

Celebrating its landmark 850th episode this season, COPS remains one of the longest-running primetime series currently airing on broadcast television.

COPS has profiled law enforcement agencies in over 140 U.S. cities and has filmed in Europe, Asia and Central and South America. It was the first American television program to follow police in the former Soviet Union. In the upcoming season, COPS will cover the U.S. from coast to coast, filming with police and sheriff's departments in California, Florida, New Jersey, Ohio and Virginia. Hard to find the theme song nowadays, this show is always a tune in n doesn't ever get old .
