Bought Series 12. Here's the best way to watch it: If something doesn't make sense, wait for it to be explained by the end of the series. Something I notice is that people get confused about moments in episodes, and rather than waiting the week for the next episode, or the series finale even, they get upset at the show because of a lack of patience. Now, I'm not trying to belittle said fans—hell, I understand why they wouldn't want to wait. Chris Chibnall enables such a sense of bewilderment and wonder into the show's fans, waiting a week to know what happens next seems almost unfair. So, just sit tight. Everything will make sense eventually. Secondly, you'll notice that a majority of the opening episodes have left-leaning political messages. If that's an immediate turn off for you, I apologize on behalf of Chris Chibnall, but I sincerely encourage you to watch the series anyway, trying to ignore the messages, if you need to. Certain episodes are subtle about it, or use them well. An episode like "Orphan 55" fails to be subtle, whilst "Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror" has a statement that can be missed if you aren't looking for it. The heavier episodes don't have political messages. So, even if you don't like the politics, stick around for the series arc, which continues from Series 11's "Timeless Child" mystery. Oh, and that returning captain is only in the series for a fraction of one episode, and, like, 0.1 seconds of another. So, if you're buying to see him be a major player, he's not. He definitely helps to kick the series into its arc, but otherwise, you shouldn't expect much of him. Finally, if you didn't like Series 11, don't see Series 12 as more of that type of content. From what I can find, a lot more people prefer Series 12 over 11. The Series 12 haters tend to hate the series because they didn't like Series 11, and refuse to believe that Doctor Who under Chibnall's reign can be good. Otherwise, there's a chance that they just hate the idea of the Doctor being a woman. I know there are other reasons, like the handling of reference to cancer in "Can You Hear Me?", but the previous seem to be most popular. TL;DR: Just sit back and enjoy it. Don't prejudge the content. Let it speak for itself. If you don't like it—well, I guess we disagree. That's fine. You're allowed to disagree with a stranger online. Enjoy.

There's a reason this show has lasted for so many years. Well ok, there are many reasons. There's no other show like it and there never will be. The writing, the characters, the action, the comedy, the lessons and of course the more emotional moments come together into a delightful package that I'll gladly watch over and over. Sure, there are some lower points which is expected when a show has gone on for so long but even the lowest points in this show surpass the highest points of many other shows out there. Here's to (hopefully) another 50 years of Doctor Who.

Love the earlier series, hate the current ones (I so wanted to love Jodie, but the show just became one long political statement instead of a fun adventure). If anyone is looking for the earlier Christmas Specials - look under Revolution of the Daleks. For some reason, Google threw all the earlier specials under there as separate seasons.
