Intelligent and gritty police drama with an intriguing story and interesting characters. More akin to some of the best cop dramas of the 90s such as Prime Suspect, The Vice, Trial And Retribution, Cracker and of course Between The Lines. That being said my one criticism would be that occasionally throughout the first three series there have been parts of the story that have relied too much on coincidence and certain characters especially DI "Dot" Cotton inexplicably always being ideally placed where he needs to be within various departments etc. However this is only a fairly small criticism as on the whole the writing is of a high standard. More please!!!!

Just brilliant! Imagine " The Bill" on steroids, then double that. The writer knows how to build almost unbearable tension, to turn the screw and just when you think you have it figured - wow, a complete u turn! Only not five stars because I'm saving that against something even more stunning turning up. It may never happen?

Deep threads run through the three series, but having watched sries 2, followed by half of series 3 before watching series 1, nothing is lost by watching series 2 first. But don't watch series 3 first! Roll on series 4!!
