Flo (POLLY HOLLIDAY) winds up without a date for New Year's Eve so Mel (VIC TAYBACK) recruits her to work in the diner. When she blurts out over the telephone to a radio show that she's alone, she suddenly has more company than anyone could bargain for.

The Bradfords try to bolster their spirits for the holidays, since it's the first Christmas they'll be celebrating without Joan. To make matters worse, however, Nicholas mistakingly allows a man - who he believes is Santa - to steal the family's Christmas presents.
