Meanwhile, during a high-speed chase with Robotnik's Swat-Bots, Cat is captured and held as Robotnik's prisoner. 2 Sonic And Sally

Season-only
During a mission to one of Robotnik's factories, Sally is taken prisoner by Robotnik and Snively, who construct a roboti-sized "Sally" clone, complete with Sally's personality, and mannerisms. The double tricks Sonic into rescuing "Sally," whose tracking devise enables Robotnik to monitor the Hedgehog's every move. "Sally" goes undetected by all of the Freedom Fighters, except for Tails, whose intuition tells him this is not the Sally he knows and loves. However, Tails warnings go unheeded, as Robotnik continues to track the Fighters every move. "Sally" shows her true spy colors as she lures Sonic and his friends into a trap. Sonic realizes that Tails suspicions were right, short-circuits "Sally" with his super-sonic speed and rushes to the real Sally's aide. Sonic frees Sally just moments before she is to be "roboti-sized", placing "Sally" in the cell as a decoy. By the time Robotnik and Snively realize they've been had, the Freedom Fighters have returned to Knothole, just in time for the real Sally to give Tails his goodnight kiss.

By placing a Power Ring in Chuck's hands, Sonic breaks Robotnik's robot-spell and is reunited with his uncle. Uncle Chuck anxiously warns Sonic of Robotnik's latest invention: the "Energy Crystal", capable of destroying all life on Mobius. Unfortunately, Robotnik makes a quick escape, taking the lone Freedom Fighter prisoner. Sonic learns of Antoine's disappearance and speeds off to his rescue. However, Sonic discovers that his speed has been neutralized by Robotnik's newly devised radar-detecting system, powered by the confiscated Power Ring. Sonic overcomes the odds and, without maximum use of his speed, frees Antoine. Antoine returns the Power Ring to Sonic, restoring Sonic's speed and allowing for a quick getaway. Although the gang is upset with Antoine for taking a foolish chance, Sonic emphasizes Antoine's bravery and grace under pressure and initiates a celebration in Antoine's honor.

Every episode either has Sonic and Sally needlessly complaining, or Sonic excessively spouting his dumb one-liners. There is one episode where Sonic is able to press a button on his shoe to activate anti-gravity, but you never see it before or after that one instance. There are so many issues with plot progression, I'm surprised "Knothole" isn't called "Plothole." The show was incompetently written by someone (R.I.P.) who hadn't ever played the games, nor knew about the character's established background.

Like a tank rusted out by salt, the SATAM cartoon had its heyday and some appreciate its historical value (to the series). Personally, watching this cartoon is much less enjoyable than as a kid - partially due to the dated sayings, and Sally's grating personality (especially when combined with Antoine's character of the French stereotype). But there are some more enjoyable moments depending on the episode. The presence of Sonic's family members, like Uncle Chuck for example, adds to the series IMO.
