Season 1 episodes (6)

1 Walking With Dinosaurs - New Blood
10/4/99
Season-only
The story begins in 220 million years BC, in the mid Triassic. The world is still recovering from a massive extinction event that wiped out 95 per cent of life millions of years before. Ancient reptiles ruled a land dominated by desert, and one group of reptiles in particular is about to take over the world.
2 Walking With Dinosaurs - Time of the Titans
10/11/99
Season-only
152 million years ago there were no birds, no flowers and no grass. Just fern prairies and conifer forests. This is the story of one of the largest animals to walk the Earth in that era - the mighty, long-necked sauropods. Growing to a size of 30 tonnes, these creatures' constant grazing helped to shape the Jurassic landscape.
3 Walking With Dinosaurs - Cruel Sea
10/18/99
Season-only
149 million years ago, Oxfordshire was almost entirely submerged in an ocean world, ruled not by dinosaurs but by marine reptiles. This is the story of the violent struggle for life here, as hundreds of Ophthalmosaurus come into the shallows to give birth, attracting predators like the Liopleurodon, the biggest of all the carnivores.
4 Walking With Dinosaurs - Giant of the Skies
10/25/99
Season-only
The skies of 127 million years ago were dominated by huge flying reptiles, some as large as aeroplanes. In the fourth programme of this spectacular series we follow an extraordinary journey undertaken by a pterosaur. Flying for thousands of miles over continents and oceans to reach his breeding grounds, for this ageing giant of the sky, the journey is his last.
5 Walking With Dinosaurs - Spirits of the Ice Forest
11/1/99
Season-only
100 million years ago Antarctica was covered in trees. For half the year the dinosaurs basked in 24 hour sunshine but the other half was a long winter of freezing twilight. This programme follows a group of delicate plant-eating dinosaurs called Leaellynasaura as they struggle to survive these seasons of extremes, and to stay one step ahead of the polar predators.
6 Walking With Dinosaurs - Death of a Dynasty
11/8/99
Season-only
65 million years ago, and as the Cretaceous period draws to a close, the world is poisoned by massive volcanic activity. A mighty Tyrannosaurus battles to rear her young, but her efforts are in vain. A giant comet heading for Earth is destined to mark the end of the age of the dinosaurs and to transform life on earth forever.

About this show

Walking with Dinosaurs is the world's first natural history of dinosaurs. Using leading-edge computer technology and animatronics, this epic series shows dinosaurs as never before - it lets us travel back in time to watch living, breathing dinosaurs in their natural habitat. Imagine you could witness a prehistoric sunset, or watch bull Triceratops lock horns over a young female. This is no longer a dream. Tracing the 160-million-year history of dinosaurs, from their first appearance to their abrupt demise, Walking with Dinosaurs makes that distant world seem just as if it existed today.

Whilst most kids grew up with animations this series forged my childhood. Not even planet dinosaur 2013 could compete with the care and attention to detail shown here. For anybody who sees this review i recommend this series. I currently have this on video tape which show that although CGI has taken over it isnt as good as it used to be in 1999.

Loved this series as a child - this was the stuff that got me into dinosaurs! The detail and time taken to make this series was amazing! The only other dino series worth watching was Planet Dinosaur, but this is always first choice!
