I used to babysit my friends 4 yr old autistic son. He would not look into the eyes of anyone. I played a game with him. I was the ridges tree & when he climbed to the top he got to see me &,him looking into the mirror & he even stared back at me as I looked into his eyes only into the mirror. He laughed so hard & smiled so very big & was having the fun & nice emotional few happy tears reactions getting to exchange our PERSONAILITY BY LAUGHING WITH EACH OTHER AS WE STARED AT EACH OTHER AS WE PLAYED, "CLIMB TO THE TOP OF TREE DEBBIE & WE WILL BOTH SEE WHAT'S AT THE TOP OF THE TREE AS WE BOTH LOOKED INTO THE MIRROR I PUT ON WALK ACROSS FROM MY FACE. HE CLJMBED MY RIDGE TREE LIKE BODY UP TO 5 FEET 3 1/4 INCHES BACK IN THE EARLY FALL OF 1981. I'LL NEVER FORGET MY FRIEND ANDY .... THE BOY WITH AUTISM WHO TAUGHT ME HOW TO HELP HIM FEEL LAUGHTER, & LOTS OF HAPPINESS & TAUGHT ME HOW I ENJOYED LAUGHING WITH HIM. I WAS SO VERY PROUD OF HIM!! I'M STILL PROUD OF MY FRIEND ANDY!

Autistic people were not put here to be used as a gimmik to sell a TV show. Also, Shaun was a far too understanding when a young Autistic patient was murdered by the parents in the hospital. This happens in real life all the time. The show is sickening. I Am Autistic and hate this series. It is produced by Autism speaks. That thinks the way to "cure" Autism is to abort babies who have it.

Spoiler alert. Thinking outside the box. Although I'm certainly no screenwriter, after watching episode 9 it would be interesting to find that Dr. Murphy did indeed leave. Maybe only for a while, but speculating on the dramatic possibilities of such a development, it would be refreshing and entertaining to watch the character's interactions with people outside of the hospital environment and perhaps gain and grow somewhat from those experiences. Meanwhile, I guess it would be up to the actual screenwriters to make sure that the characters back at the hospital have an interesting enough storyline to stand alone for a while, and I suppose it would be an opportunity to further develop their characters.
