About this show

Fans of the iconic Prisoner Cell Block H series, which pushed boundaries over three decades ago and still today boasts a loyal following worldwide, will remember Bea Smith as gutsy and fearless, ruling Wentworth Correctional Centre with an iron fist. But who was Bea Smith before prison? How did a housewife and mother from the suburbs become "Top Dog" without rival? WENTWORTH PRISON is a dynamic, often confronting, totally compelling drama series that begins with Bea's early days in prison. Set in the present day, it is a modern adaptation of Prisoner Cell Block H which contemporises legendary characters and their stories for today's audience. Set in an uncompromising environment that explores the politics of women in a world without men that both challenges and often changes those confined and working behind the razor wire. It is a series about survival, a character drama featuring women living in a pressure cooker environment. Despite the rivalries and power struggles, this family of misfits and rebels are forced to forge unlikely friendships and allegiances if they want to survive their time inside.

This is the best show I've ever seen. My mum started watching it on TV a few years ago, I didn't pay any attention to it at all. Then when season 5 aired I watched the first ep with her and omg I've been obsessed ever since. That night I went at binged the first season and my obsession started from there. Best prison series in my opinion, definitely watch online and rate 5 stars.

I am a real film fanatic & collector of film memorabilia. I rarely watch series on T.V.as such,as I tend to miss many & loose track. However this is a 1st for me. Now, albeit approximately 35yrs of interest in films, covering a wide range of topics from comedy through to horror,& more besides,my daughter introduced me to Wentworth Prison,& I value her opinion.I was totally enthralled by it,as it introduced each character portrail,so unique in every which way possible. As we are all individuals,& all react to a situation so differently from the next person.Already a Fanatic of this series,I did however miss several episodes, but pre-ordered each series to arrive upon its release. And as far as my favourite actor/actress goes, indeed it has to be Pamela Rabe,"The Freak."......acting the part of such a disturbed & deranged individual must be very difficult. I cannot wait for series 5 to hit our screens. No other series has ever had such an impact on me personally. Thank-you. Laverne Desoer.
