Kayla and Fizza are intrigued when Romany Traveller Johnny enrols in their class, ruffling feathers and attracting attention throughout the school - Kayla's immediately smitten.

After a break-in at the school, the travellers are blamed for the theft of school property. Mrs Carp deeply offends Johnny with her bigotry, and he storms out of her class, telling Martin he'd rather be in care.

Tensions between Fizza and her conservative Muslim mother, Miriam, are high after she takes little sister Zara to see their father Asif at the drag club, and things only get worse when she finds her mother protesting against sex education at the school gates.

Tahir's lies come home to roost. Firstly, he tricks Hayley into bed by telling her both his parents are dead. Then, in an attempt to cheer up his mate, he forges letters to Sam from her mother in prison, but when Nadine unexpectedly gets parole, he has to come clean and Sam cuts him off, leaving town in anger.

Tensions brew when Kayla admits to deleting Johnny's text from Fizza phone; Fizza is furious that her so-called best friend has allowed her to blame her mum all this time. At the talent show, Fizza is compere, but Gav disappoints her by not showing up to see her.

Kayla begs Fizza for forgiveness, but then her whole world implodes when she learns that she hooked up with Johnny after the talent show. To make things worse, it looks like her dad is dealing drugs again.

Johnny is grieving the loss of his Grandad and Kayla can't get through to him. At the funeral, the girls notice him with Rose. During the eulogy, Fizza realises she has feelings for Johnny and later confides in Kayla who is devastated and torn in two once again.

Fizza gets back in touch with Gav to try and shake Johnny from her mind. Kayla is exasperated with her friend's fickle heart and is missing Johnny like mad.

Tahir's world is turned upside down when Hayley tells him she's pregnant and that he's the father. When Sam encourages him to visit his estranged dad, he discovers that his dad has sold up and moved back to Pakistan without telling him.

As Johnny's wedding approaches, Jules and Marina are worried about Kayla, who is putting on a brave face for the world. Johnny feels the weight of responsibility to his community and decides to go through with marrying Rose.
