About this show

In a time when disorder and mayhem were the law of the land, Kevin Corcoran was New York City's finest. From the brilliant minds of Academy Award®-winner Barry Levinson, Emmy®-winner Tom Fontana and Academy Award®-nominee Will Rokos, Copper is a gripping drama, filled with intrigue, corruption, mystery and murder. Follow Detective Kevin Corcoran - a rugged Irish immigrant cop - as he seeks justice for the powerless in the notorious immigrant neighborhood of Five Points. Bonded by battle to two Civil War compatriots - the wayward son of a wealthy industrialist and an African-American physician who secretly assists the forensic investigations - Corcoran is thrust into the contrasting worlds of elegant and corrupt Fifth Avenue, and the emerging African- American community in Northern Manhattan. You can practically smell the squalor of five points NYC. Well written and acted, each episode makes you want to watch the next. The series mostly takes place in the Irish slums of NYC named Five Points not long after a professional police force is established. Think CSI without modern science or technology - only a strong willed Irish cop and genius black coroner (before there was such a thing). Part of the thrill is watching the time when modern criminology first appeared.

This show faithfully interprets the grime and brutality that New York was famous for during the mid-1800's; at the same time, the main character is relatable and familiar. The episodes keep you guessing and are extremely well made.

What a great show! The lead character is flawed, and awesome in sooo many ways! One of my favorite shows on right now.
