It’s Fire Prevention Day in Pontypandy and FIREMAN SAM and STATION OFFICER STEELE are visiting DILYS at the supermarket in JUPITER to complete a fire safety check.

MIKE is doubting Radar’s abilities as a rescue dog declaring that “if he’s a rescue dog I’ll eat my dirty t-shirt.” MANDY decides that she will prove RADAR’S abilities to her father.

It is spring in Pontypandy and NORMAN wants to go camping. TREVOR offers to take him camping on Pontypandy Mountain and DILYS invites herself along too, despite her previous aversion to the great out doors. On the way up the mountain NORMAN tries to scare his mum with tales of wild lions and escaped zoo animals leaving Dilys in a nervous flap. On seeing an orange glow emitting from the woods DILYS panics thinking it is a forest fire. As Trevor ushers them to safety she unwittingly knocks a log from the camp fire causing a real fire to start.

Some of the cliffs in Pontypandy are crumbling so SAM and TOM put up warning signs marking the unsafe paths. The next day after heavy rainfall NORMAN and MANDY eagerly go in search of a Golden eagle. Meeting SAM and RADAR on their way up the hill, SAM lets them take RADAR along but warns them to steer clear of the dangerous paths.

MANDY has a new video camera and after missing out on recording recording SAM save LION the cat, she and NORMAN decide to make a real film instead. NORMAN decides he is the lead and, with the aid of his mothers shower curtain and a pair of underpants over his trousers, transforms himself into a super hero. SARAH plays the maiden in distress left on the rocks by her evil brother JAMES.

Its Christmas time in Pontypandy and despite his mother’s protests NORMAN is going over board in an attempt to have the best Christmas display in Pontypandy. Piling lights all around the supermarket, NORMAN convinces his mum to place an inflatable Santa Claus on the roof but it’s a windy day and the Santa flies off with NORMAN and DILYS casing after it. On returning empty handed from the Santa chase they find that the electric sockets, overloaded by Christmas lights, have started a fire!

At the Fire station ELVIS is getting rather fond of the idea of using the ‘Jaws of life’ and when SAM promises him he can operate them the next time they are needed ELVIS tries to use them at every emergency they are called to… including getting LION the cat out of a tree.

It’s a cold day in Pontypandy and everyone is doing their best to stay warm, especially in the Wholefish Café where the boiler has stopped working. SARAH takes WOOLLY’S new baby lamb rapped up like a baby out for a walk in a pram, thoroughly confusing the Pontypandy inhabitants. Getting wet in the rain SARAH takes LAMBIKINS back to the Café and SARAH places her wet jumper over an electric heater to dry out. The jumper starts a fire but Charlie’s calm actions mean everyone gets out quickly, although he becomes confused and worried when he hears crying inside.

It’s washing day in Pontypandy and both MIKE and NORMAN are being charged with washing duty in their respective houses. NORMAN rushes the washing and tries to get all of it into one wash. Feeling happy with himself at achieving this he runs out to play, leaving the over filled machine to break down mid wash.

While out for a walk in the woods SARAH, JAMES and BRONWYN realise that LION the cat has followed them and is hunting birds. Finding a wishing well the family each make a wish and throw in a coin. JAMES’ wish comes true immediately as SAM and crew arrive to put out a small fire and JAMES gets a lift back in the fire engine. Unbeknownst to them LION, while hunting a bird falls into the well.

BRONWYN is taking care of NIPPER for the day but the energetic dog is causing havoc where ever he goes. To calm him down BRONWYN and SARAH take him for a long walk along Pontypandy cliffs, but the havoc continues when SARAH trips and hurts her leg. BRONWYN spots SAM on the beach below and starts to wave for help. Unaware she is asking for help SAM waves back. SARAH remembers ELVIS’ latest song all about red being for danger and BRONWYN uses the red picnic cloth as a signal to SAM.

The Floods decide to have fireworks display in their garden so MANDY goes to invite SAM, JAMES and SARAH. SAM explains that he is on duty so can’t come but hands MANDY firework safety leaflet to give to Mike. At the fish shop JAMES and SARAH are excited when MANDY invites them but when MANDY and NORMAN do firework impressions LION the cat gets scared and runs off.

PENNY and HELEN go for a hike in the mountains but PENNY slips and hurts her ankle. When fog sets in they realise they’re going to need help, but the PENNY’s flare isn’t visible through the fog. Meanwhile, MIKE can’t remember where HELEN was headed so SAM suggests using RADER to sniff her out, however forgetful MIKE gives SAM MANDY’s dress to smell by mistake meaning RADAR sniffs out the wrong person. Thankfully, at the last minute, MIKE remembers where HELEN was headed and they set off with RADAR, and the right smell, to rescue them.

It’s MIKE and HELEN’s wedding anniversary and MIKE wants to throw a garden party but doesn’t want HELEN to lift a finger, even when it’s obvious he needs help. The BBQ is threatened by a storm, and when the power goes out it looks like everything is ruined. However, the storm passes and everyone moves back outside. Unfortunately, MIKE fails to notice that he’s left paper napkins on the electric stove, and when the power comes back on they catch fire! MIKE learns that nobody can do everything on their own.

CHARLIE takes SARAH, JAMES and NORMAN out on a fishing expedition. NORMAN is convinced that he’s the best fisherman although he gets caught out when CHARLIE finds him with fish-fingers on the end of his line claiming to have caught them.

NORMAN wants to convince JAMES and SARAH that there’s a dinosaur in a cave on Pontypandy beach. He fashions himself a dinosaur footprint out of drift wood and leads JAMES and MANDY to the cave where he proceeds to make dinosaur noises. Unfortunately the tide comes in, leaving NORMAN and JAMES stranded. SARAH raises the alarm and PENNY and SAM come to the rescue in NEPTUNE.

NORMAN is building a new go-cart and wants it to be the best ever. After a precarious test drive with the resuscitation dummy NORMAN is certain that the cart is safe, but he forgot about breaks and ends up careening off the harbour wall at full speed landing in the sea! SAM and PENNY race to the rescue in NEPTUNE and NORMAN resolves that he should wait for help next time.

MANDY has got NORMAN a model aeroplane kit for his birthday, but NORMAN, impatient as ever, doesn’t bother read the instructions and quickly becomes annoyed with the fiddly plane. NORMAN thinks he needs stronger glue, however he doesn’t read the instructions on the stronger glue either and ends up stuck to his bedroom door.

NORMAN accidentally kicks his football at the fire alarm in the shop, cracking the glass and setting it off. DILYS confiscates his football as a consequence. NORMAN wants to convince DILYS that is wasn’t his fault and that the alarm was faulty, so he sets off the alarm again however DILYS remains unconvinced and SAM, far from happy to be called out to another false alarm, tells NORMAN the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

SAM and ELVIS nearly come a cropper when find WOOLLY lose on the road. The sheep has escaped through a broken gate so SAM takes her back to the PRICE’S house in JUPITER until the gate is fixed. NORMAN is pleased with the company as he’s stuck at home getting over a cold. NORMAN soon grows bored stuck in his bedroom and resolves to take WOOLLY out for a walk after all “the fresh air will do me good.” But Woolly once again wanders onto the road causing the BUS to lose control and end up precariously balanced on the cliff edge with TREVOR, MANDY, SARAH and JAMES on board!

It’s mother’s day and NORMAN is making a poor show if treating DILYS. Instead of allowing MIKE to help him flex his woodwork skills and make something for his mum, NORMAN just nails a bottle top into a piece of wood and calls it a candle holder. Needless to say, later that evening when DILYS is having in the Wholefish Café with TREVOR, the wonky candle holder topples causing a fire. SAM and ELVIS race to the rescue in JUPITER whilst PENNY follows close behind in VENUS. The flames are soon doused, and when NORMAN realises that it was his shoddy present that almost put his mum in danger he’s full of remorse – he really does love his mum after all.

A ship has shed its cargo off Pontypandy bay. PENNY is on hand in NEPTUNE to make sure there’s no danger. CHARLIE warns JAMES and SARAH that they should be careful on the beach until all the crates are collected, SARAH doesn’t want to go on the beach at all but JAMES thinks she’s boring and runs off to play with MANDY instead. When JAMES and MANDY find a crate JAMES is initially nervous, but MANDY convinces him that it would be exciting to see what’s in the crate. However, whilst trying to open the crate it topples onto JAMES trapping his legs. SAM and ELVIS race to the rescue in JUPITER but SAM becomes concerned when the crate starts ticking. Thankfully the crate turns out to be full of alarm clocks! James resolves that perhaps he should listen to his sister in future – exciting can be dangerous after all!

It’s a very hot day in Pontypandy but TREVOR is refusing to accept advice about his old bus not being up to the trek up Pontypandy mountain with NORMAN, MANDY and the TWINS to spot a peregrine falcon. When the engine overheats, TREVOR ignores NORMAN’s advice and opens the bonnet, causing a fire to start. SAM and ELVIS race to the rescue in JUPITER and quickly extinguish the flames. TREVOR has to accept that he should listen to advice in future, even when it comes from NORMAN.

NORMAN and MANDY are in a competition to prove who’s the best at hide and seek in Pontypandy. MANDY heads off to hide on CHARLIE’S boat, which she regrets when CHARLIE sails off and she gets stuck out at sea with a bad case of sea-sickness. NORMAN meanwhile thinks that the top of the training tower at the fire station would be a great place to hide, which it would be if the tower wasn’t being used for a practice exercise that afternoon. When MANDY, SARAH and JAMES can’t find NORMAN, DILYS starts to panic. MANDY takes to the skies with TOM in his HELECOPTER and soon spots NORMAN in the training tower. The training exercise quickly turns into a real rescue as SAM, ELVIS and PENNY leap into action to save NORMAN. Safely back on the ground NORMAN agrees that he’ll be hiding at home from now on – although he’s still the best at hide and seek in Pontypandy!

JAMES and SARAH will not stop competing over things. SAM suggests to BRONWYN that a nature trail through the woods with NORMAN and MANDY might prove a distraction – and why don’t they both bring him back something interesting from their walk? This sets the TWINS off competing again – who can find the most interesting thing? When a tree in the forest is hit by lightning, starting a fire, the TWINS are too busy trying to out do each other to realise they are in danger. SAM and ELVIS race to the rescue in JUPITER with PENNY close behind in VENUS. SAM uses RADAR to sniff out the TWINS and guide them back to safety.

JAMES is feeling embarrassed about his less than impressive home-made birthday card for BRONWYN. In an attempt to find a better present he borrows STATION OFFICE STEELE’S metal detector and goes looking for precious coins. Unfortunately JAMES’ enthusiastic digging under the cliffs causes a rock fall, leaving JAMES trapped. Luckily STATION OFFICE STEELE finds him and raises the alarm. SAM races to the rescue in JUPITER whilst PENNY follows in VENUS and with the help of RADAR’s power of smell they quickly unearth the unharmed JAMES. BRONWYN is beyond relieved to have her son back safely and tells JAMES that the lovely homemade birthday card was more than she could have wished for her birthday.
