Inspired by the life of Joanna Coles, chief content officer of Hearst Magazines, "The Bold Type" follows a group of spirited, modern young women who work at "Scarlet," a global women's magazine headed by the high-powered editor-in-chief, Jacqueline (Melora Hardin). Jane (Katie Stevens) has recently been promoted to her dream job as a writer, Kat (Aisha Dee) is the newly appointed social media director, and Sutton (Meghann Fahy) is still toiling away as an assistant. These empowered young friends help each other navigate life's challenges as they strive to achieve their professional goals while searching for love.
Kat throws a Queer Prom fundraiser to save a lesbian bar. Sutton moves in with Richard, but struggles to accept his help and adapt to his lifestyle while putting in more hours at work. Jane begins her fertility treatments.
