I just finished binge watching the first season for the second time and all I can say is, I want to read Dan Simmons' book and research the true story further. I was absolutely engrossed with each character, especially those of Captain Crozier & Mr. Hickey, who despite his blatant repugnance seemed almost sympathetic I thought more could have been explained about "lady silence" & Tuunbak & was saddened by Dr. Goodsir's death. It was so good I had to pull out my comforter to stem a phantom chill.

Excellent production all the way around, as expected with Ridley Scott producing - story, dialogue, actors, direction, costume, set design, sound, music. Awesome TV experience. I hadn't heard of the book before, but this series has inspired me to download it from Audible, so I'm experiencing both at the same time. I'm glad it's been done as a series so that the story could naturally unfold, as opposed to being crammed into one feature film. The series has definitely maintained atmosphere of the book., though I will admit being disappointed with how they chose to end the series. It seemed rush, and the commercial breaks on AMC were just so poorly timed. Regardless, this was definitely time well spent!

After reading the book, I decided to watch the television show. Of course, the movie/tv shows are never as good as the books but overall it seemed to follow the basics. I still fell in love with the Crozier character and was able to feel his failures and triumphs just as well in the book and show. He was done excellently as well as a few other characters. If you even 'sort of' enjoyed this show, you -need- to read the book. It is an entirely different experience.
