About this app

ExerciseRx is an application being used for research purposes at the University of Washington under Institutional Review Board-approved research protocols. In these research studies, a healthcare provider gives each patient access to the app with a personalized code. Once patients download and sign up for the app, the app begins tracking their activity levels, as measured by step count. Step count is part of the Activity & Fitness data classification. This data was previously exported from Google Fit, but will be exported from Google Health Connect, once approved. Step count data is shared to a HIPAA-compliant webpage dashboard for the provider and analyzed by the research team. All potential patients using ExerciseRx are screened to ensure it is safe for them to walk and are instructed to stop using ExerciseRx if any health concerns arise.
