With the outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the health sector worldwide has faced many challenges. This has created a need for alternative methods of offering treatment, and among them is Home Based Care (HBC). Home-based care is a health system where patients are provided treatment in their localities or homes. For HBC to work effectively, there is a need to offer an effective means of enabling Health Care Workers (HCWs) to collect information from the patients and also offer surveillance and further monitor the patients until they are well and also decongest the health facilities to prevent further spread. We present the HBC application that utilizes the Interactive Voice Technology (IVR) to enable the HCWs effectively monitor, report and offer 14 days of surveillance to patients who tested positive for COVID-19 from health facilities and are eligible for Home Base Care in order to identify patients whose conditions have escalated and need immediate intervention from the Ministry of Health Uganda.
