Ratings and reviews

After installing the app and had it for about an hour I decided to pay for it for one year (I was not confident enough to pay the one time payment). It has now been three days. The battery usage is not bad (one of the things I was worried about). The weather information seems accurate (another important thing for me). The app has the look that I like. Occasionally I have to switch location on and off for the app to refresh the location, but I can live with that.

Paid for premium hoping the rain layer for the weather radar would be worth something...it really isn't. Radar has a max zoom of 500 miles, it doesn't let you hide some very obstructive wind streamlines, and the key is just a colour gradient that doesn't include units and is nowhere near the precision it needs to be (whatever that is...again, no units). The people want hyperlocal radar! Crack that and this becomes infinitely better. It's a clean UI but ultimately a very basic weather app.

Overdrop has a nice clean interface, with all the information helpfully laid out. The big drawbacks for me are: (1) the lack of a dark theme that uses colours for sun (yellow), rain (blue) and cloud (white), like in the default light theme. (2) the lack of a weather radar. "Today Weather" has both of these, so I'm hard pressed to pick between the two. If Overdrop had these, it'd definitely be my favourite weather app.
