About this app

50languages.com contains 100 lessons that provide you with a basic vocabulary. With no prior knowledge, you will learn to fluently speak short sentences in real-world situations in no time.

1. In the Main Menu tap on "Select languages". Then select your native language and the language you want to learn. Stay online for 10 minutes so that all sound files for this language can be downloaded in the background. You can work offline then.

2. Tap on "Account settings" and "Register". After registering you can make in-app purchases to remove ads, save your progress on our server, get a language certificate after 50 and 100 lessons.

3. If you have prior knowledge of the language, we recommend that you first take a placement test.

4. You will find 100 lessons that you can learn for free. Each lesson has 10 steps. You will be guided through all the lessons.

5. Go to the menu in the top right corner to repeat a lesson or to skip a task.

6. Tap on "Practice" in the Main Menu to practice the content of the lessons. Here you can also learn the alphabet and the numbers.

Tips for effective learning

Take 15 minute breaks after each lesson to relax and memorize what you learned.

Review the previous lesson before you start a new one.

We strongly recommend that you take notes while learning.

Very good app, the content is very good, better than duolingo. The interface needs improvement though. Even so, it teaches you the basics in a structured manner. I'm also thrilled about the amount of languages and especially about the rare ones. Are you working on expanding the languages covered? Any chances of adding kurdish, latin or any celtic languages?

The biggest flaw in the UI is that it defaults to system language, and it can not be changed. This in itself wouldn't be that bad, if the translation was decent. However, I had to think what every single option in the menu could be in English, before I managed to use the app. Instructions and menu options seemed confusing, mostly due to mixed use of imperative and basic forms of verbs. Note to future translator(s): I can think no way "to extract" translates to "lakkauttaa", as the sentence "sanasto lakkautetaan" makes no sense and sounds like something bad is about to happen (the English version of the sentence was "vocabulary will be extracted"). Also, I may be spoiled for more rapid learning, as I found the progression in learning be too slow for my taste. Being interrupted by tips after each step didn't help, even though you can disable them by ticking the box.

I appreciate that this app provides extensive content broken down into short, reliable lessons and that Armenian is one of the languages offered. However, the app itself doesn't seem to provide any method for user feedback, such as when the audio recording and the text displayed don't match, when the translation is inaccurate, or when we have some other suggestion for improvement; this is why I am commenting here now. Overall, I recommend this app for daily language study, even for busy people.
