The Tuta email app asks for very few permissions to protect your privacy:

- Full network access: Used to send and receive emails.
- Receive data from the internet: To notify you when you receive a new mail.
- View network connections: To find out if an internet connection exists.
- Read your contacts: This enables you to select recipients from your phone's contacts.
- Read from SD card: To allow adding of attachments from the SD card to emails.
- Control vibration: To notify you when you receive a new email.
- Deactivate sleeping mode: To notify you when you receive a new email.

Ratings and reviews

Almost perfect. Only thing it needs is being able to have quick actions supported on notifications to delete, reply or archive, and widgets to use the calendar quickly without needing to open the app and change tabs. If the calendar could sync with other widgets like 'Everyday' or 'Month' that could save the effort of making your own. Otherwise, amazing email service. Great app. Emails come faster then through Gmail. Please never sell out or succumb to government pressure. Much respect!

I find this app frustrating because there are so many little bugs. It won't generate notifications for email or calendar, even though they are permitted in app permissions; the feature for recognising known senders and displaying images never works; I cannot stop emails from known senders going into spam no matter what I do; the calendar shows the wrong dates in week view. I don't understand the support pages. I'm beginning to reconsider paying for this app's premium subscription.

The app works well. I love the fact that there's a really long key you can type in to regain control of your account if your secondary authentication method fails. I would like the option to display the sender or subject line of emails in new email notifications so I can judge how urgent it is for me to read the email though.
