Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.

Proton Mail in the press:

“Proton Mail is an email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes

“A new email service being developed by a group from MIT that met at CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

In the newest version of the app, I have to tap the trash can icon several times to get it to register. I'm using a Google Pixel 6 Pro. Also, none of the buttons seem to trigger haptic feedback the way it did in previous versions so it's hard to tell if my taps are being registered or not. App version 4.0.0 (7487)

Hi Matthew! We've passed your feedback along to the team internally, to help prioritize future implementations. Please update the app to the latest beta version available in Play Store - 4.0.2(7702), and let us know if you continue experiencing the same behavior when deleting messages.

Don't know what to say! I appreciate Proton and their work, really I do but couple things like imap could be integrated to free version too. Not everyone can afford mail services for money, but they want to be secure as well. The app is phenomenal, it's working very well but I got a lot of Phishing mails lately, I don't know why! Is Proton testing that or is that a breach I don't understand.

Hi! The amount of spam you receive often depends on where you use your email address. You can find our tips on how to avoid receiving spam at: https://proton.me/support/avoid-spam. Moreover, you can learn how to block senders at: https://proton.me/support/block-sender.

The proton mail service is great. This app, though, needs some work. Responsiveness is quite poor, with simple operations (opening an email, changing folders, etc) taking a very long time to complete. Worse, there's no UI feedback indicating that an operation is in process, nor does the UI debounce inputs, so multiple tinteractions queue up and do the wrong thing. Great service, disappointing app.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us Benjamin - we've passed it along to the team! Please try clearing the app data from your Android settings (which logs you out of your account) to see if this will improve things on your end. Let us know how this goes.
