Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.

Proton Mail in the press:

“Proton Mail is an email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes

“A new email service being developed by a group from MIT that met at CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

As much as I love Proton, this app is embarrassingly buggy and slow. Want to switch from your Inbox to Sent Mail? That takes 30 seconds. Want to send an email? There's a 20% chance it just silently fails to send. Another 10% chance it sends an older draft without your latest changes. Typing an email? It saves a new separate draft for almost every word you type, instead of updating the same draft. Good luck finding the final draft with your full message among the 20 other partial drafts.

Hi! Please let us know what specifically you've experienced trouble with, so we can look into this. EDIT: The sending issues you report have been brought to our developers' attention and they are working on resolving them. In the meantime, please refer to our suggestions at: proton.me/support/troubleshooting-sending-messages-android.

Totally flawed. This was a good app. Now it just hangs in sending emails . Constant messages tell me the it can't send my drafts. It's infuriating . 12/25/23 Looks like from the reviews I'm not the only one with issues. The canned response from Proton , pretty much means they are doing nothing to fix it. What is really annoying is I have recommended this product to others. Only to have this poor customer service. BTW - works flawlessly on my tablet, and desktop.

Really pleased with this app. It does everything I need it to do, even love the purple! I've ran into some glitches but developers seem to get them fixed in a timely manner, so that's a plus. When it did crash, I re-installed and it worked fine after that. Having patience with technology may not be popular, but advised. Although I get it, we like things to run smoothly because it helps us be productive... Thanks Proton! Will recommend to others.
