Not working well and the search function requires an expensive subscription, which quite frankly is ridiculous. I don't mind having freemium apps with paid features or ads, but searching for entries is a core functionality. Furthermore, synchronisation is laggy and title images often don't get loaded properly. I chose Instapaper only because it was suggested as a replacement for Pocket, but it falls short in many ways and is quite frustrating to use.

If you've come to love the now discontinued Pocket app, Instapaper is... okay, but not great. You can use it to save articles for reading them later, but that's about it. Often Instapaper needs very long to download and process an article, and often they're parsed badly (only half the article or only error message.) You can't even search for keywords in the free version. Navigation is also cumbersome: no quick swiping for archive/deleting; you need to open and scroll through the menu first. Etc.

I am a former reader from Pocket, a reading app similar to this one. I must say Pocket's overall appearance and experience was much better. I like Instapaper it's just that Pocket did it better. Pocket is defunct now so Instapaper it is. Hopefully, the appearance and user experience will only get better as we go. Once again, I'm hopeful. 🙂
