About this app

Element Classic is the previous-generation of Element mobile app. Friends, family and communities should use the free and open source Element X app which is faster, easier to use, and more powerful. New users of public sector organisations, enterprises and professional teams users should use the Element Pro app that is built for work and organisations. Element Classic is available at least until the end of 2025 and will receive critical security updates but no further enhancements or new features.

The application requires the android.permission.REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES permission to enable the installation of applications received as attachments, ensuring seamless and convenient access to new software within the app.

The application requires the USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT permission to ensure our users can effectively receive call notifications even when their devices are locked.

The application right now is working fine, but is asking me to verify all the time, but it won't let me verify, developers should work on this because it's not working, at least not for me, I have both versions installed, the Smartphone one and the Desktop one, I cannot verify using either, it says "Confirm your digital identity" but when selecting the option "Use another device to verify" it doesn't work, "Starting the verification on the other device" doesn't work!

As of todayI am done with the app. The verification process is not working. There is no way to contact tech support. the fourm chat is no help they say is back up your chats, but no steps are given. I am using an android phone, and I tried to verify my phone with my laptop, and it says it sent my laptop a notification to verify, but it doesn't. I teoed with other computers as well. all my military buddies are having the same issues. Element used to be great. Now im going to try Jami or Session

Kind of strange that you can't validate your first device without first selecting "can't confirm" and going through that process. Works as needed afterwards. Hopefully this gets improved in the near future as many users including myself are looking for Discord alternatives.
