Microsoft Translator is a free, personal translation app for more than 70 languages, to translate text, voice, conversations, camera photos and screenshots. You can also download languages for offline translation for free to use when you travel.

Ratings and reviews

Best translator app. Language packs can be downloaded to use the translator offline. Ironically, the app attempts to use the internet even after a given language is already installed. This is fine when with good signal and connection quality. But when the signal or bandwidth are poor, the translation lags or stops. Under such conditions, it is necessary to turn off WiFi and mobile data, in order to force offline mode. If Microsoft would fix this annoying problem, I'd give the app six stars.

It's a good app, though when I copy-paste text I can only listen to the translation but I cannot listen to the original language and that would be very useful. That also happens when I speak a word from another language, I cannot listen to any audio from that language, but only the translation. It would also be awesome if they decided to include a translation to IPA.

I don't know why, but the translator camera doesn't work. I take the picture, and it says: "no text detected," when there's clearly words there. So you should fix that because without this feature, the app feels incomplete. Also, you should add the option that lets you copy the translated text to your computer. It is really helpful for some people.
